Just realized that our handy digital camera also records like 30-50 seconds of digital video/audio. Made a clip tonight as a test. I don't have a good playback system handy, so I'm not 100% how the amp sounds with the crappy little camera mic, but it seems KINDA okay.
Thoughts?
Chris

I see you agree with me on the power dampening![]()

Man, if I even roll back on the power dampening a little bit the tone gets all "trebly" and stuff. What's up with that? I can't even understand why he'd put that on the amp. I'm afraid that I'll have to use some power dampening live and that would SUCK.
I only messed with the PD a little bit, but enough to realized I didn't dig it. I'll try it again sometime, though.
I was just thinking that. Its the best thing I ever did for my Superbass and sounds superior to a Hotplate, especially at bedroom levels IMO. YMMV.sah5150":2lzih1bm said:I recommend replacing the PD with a nice PPIMV

I recommend replacing the PD with a nice PPIMV and you won't need a HotPlate and will get that sound at even lower volumes. It is really easy to do according to the tech who did mine... I can get him to write up the circuit and tell you what parts you need...

Whats up, Steve! From what I understand, the dampening is a PPIMV. It's just wired a little differently, possibly not at the same point in the circuit, or something. Anyway, I wonder if with some re-wiring it could be like the one you have. I would like to have the diagram of what was done to yours if you get to that point.
Chris, I had great results with just the dampening and no Hotplate, You just have to adjust tone controls. There is no doubt that it sounds best with no dampening.

Yeah, I'd describe it as dark and midrangey. Depends on the speakers of course. It's supposed to be brighter than the other Budda amps too, so I dunno.
Daver101 absolutely loves his SD45. I just didn't gel with it.

Ya... what's the story on that??
I heard Brent posted the real pd circuitry on the Plexi Palace and Vic freaked?? Rumor...??

One pot and two wires. Definitely less voodoo than the marketing hype would have you believe. And it most definitely is not anything like Power Scaling.
