I like what they did with it....looks modern but still killer.

This is a youtube guy that bought it and put on the new EMG hetfield pup set through a Mark III..... sounds KILLER.

wow, a comparison between the EMG JH set and the 81/60 combo........ the JH sounds SO MUCH better.

i have the hetfields in my silverburst lpc and i love them, i had a 81 and 60a in it before the hetfields.
alot of my guitars still have the 81/60 in them and i still like it but i plan on changing a few of them soon. some people can hear the difference and some dont but i can and i really like how they sound and feel.

the videoclip posted was ok but honestly these pickups sound alot better inperson, atleast people can get a idea of how they sound.

Hmmm..

I like the JH neck, but I generally prefer the original 81.

Still... it sounds like more changed between sessions than just the pickup.

I definitely can hear the difference..... the 81 sounds like crap compared to the Hets (Based on this video btw)

I want to like that guitar, especially the black one but I just can't dig that body cut. It has the same effect on me as the G&L headstock.

I like the body cut myself, and also prefer the JH's!

The JH pickups live up to the expectations! I have a set in my LPC-absolutely LOVE them! I'd definitely recommend them to anyone considering making the purchase.

I wish ESP would fit by default the Het sig pups on their Het sig axes...

That's exactly what I was thinking. There's no way a tweaked 81 could sound THAT much different. Still, I liked the JH set tones better.

Now while I almost immediately replaced the EMG 81 pickups in my guitar for a pair of Suhr Doug Aldrich passive humbuckers and haven't looked back since...

Something just does not sound right about the 81/60s in this video. The tone seems really "boxy". It's almost like the amp was set to deliberately make the pickups sound bad. The JH pickups sound like just good pickups. Definitely worth trying out and maybe buying, but I smell a rat with this comparison video.

And also the tone for the Enter Sandman rhythm was awful for both pickups.

I may be in the minority here, but I felt the 81 killed it in most of the examples. The dude seems to have selected settings/mic position that gave it a bit of a ratty edge, but it had way more punch and presence across the frequencies than the JH bridge.... it had more of the kind of tone I want when I use an active pickup.

The JH on the other hand sounded kind of bloated on the bottom, undefined in the middle and staticy on top. I'm hoping it's the mic position or something... I want to try the JH set and I will be pissed if it sounds like that in real life.
