Tempted to buy one of the new 100 watt heads or smalle,, scared of build quality etc,,
Whats your take??
I know Fortin was involved but 750.00 for 100 watt head is a good deal makes me wonder ?????

Just got a couple 100 watters in today. I haven't checked them out yet but I have been playing through the RD5 head and the thing is wicked. I had the RD1 here also and that's a little monster too. If they are getting this much meanness out of these little amps, I imagine the 100w is going to be a beast.

And let's put it this way, I heard the old RD series amps and didn't really care for them. With Fortin breathing new life into these things now, they are the amp I look forward to playing when I get to work. It took me a little while to get the RD5 sounding as cool as the RD1 did, but just today I tried setting it completely differently and it is really kicking ass now

I heard I can put el34s in if I bias right is that correct??
I can get an rd100 or lb103 have you played one of those??

My understanding is you can put el34's in but these are so new, I don't know anyone who has done it yet.

As for the LB103, that amp was OK. I wasn't a huge fan. Doesn't mean someone else won't love it, but it wasn't my favorite Randall product.

fuk it bought a rd100 i got like 4 sets of el34 sed i needed to use lol

great purchase

I had the fortin modded limited version of the old rd50h
it was a pretty solid amp, unlike most of the crap Randall was putting out in the last decade
good quality parts, top quality courvin, panel and switches and quite well designed
better built than a similar priced Jet City, which are also quite reliable amps
and tonewise, it was one of the best amps I ever played
very plug n play and goes well with lots of speakers, although it only sounded perfect with v30's and greenback-likes (middier speakers)
I imagine the new versions only got better, specially the 100w version
I just wish they release a more british voiced model with more mids
not that it's scooped, but it has a flatter american voicing, somewhere between old randalls and mike fortin's amps (it has a bit of the bones and the natas voicings)
the clean channel is the real deal, not some tamed plexi clean (although I prefer crunchy fake cleans)
the drive channel has a ton of dynamics, even with the boost turned on, and cleans up like a champ anytime you need it to
what impresses the most is the complete lack of hiss and the great articulation even with the gain maxed
it's one of the quietest and most articulate high gain amps I ever played, right along with diezels
just wish it had a ton of mids like the diezels (ok, I confess I'm a midrange addict)
