I hope this place doesn't leave the interwebz. That would bum me out big time. This site has done some GREAT things in the two and a half years its been around; we got our own boost pedal, BIG names in the guitar gear industry post here and respect us as a forum, not to mention all the useful threads. Plus, I REFUSE to go back to HC.

I personally hope ALL the dramaqueens leave. There's too many other really cool guys here that never make any kind of stink. Let's just not turn it into another Gear Page.

You will get some emails from the registrar back-and-forth to acknowledge the transaction, and you will probably have to pay for at least a new year. Make sure all email addresses in the whois/registrar records are working before initiating anything though, otherwise an endless mess ensues! Changing hosting services is much harder, though... Setting up the httpd server and php isn't that hard, but you will have to off-line copy the database (MySQL?) – for instance with scp or rsync over ssh – or replicate it live when it's locked. You also need to make sure emails make it out so people can (un/)subscribe. It might be better to keep the site where it is, at least until everything's figured out.

(I happen to be a Unix/Linux server/network admin and security consultant, so I could probably answer some of the more technical questions if there's a problem.)

Are you SgtThump/Bob Savage selling the site because it's getting too expensive? Or have you just lost interest?

Whatever happens I hope Bob and Chris get a fair price, they have certainly built a wonderful site that has a lot of potential, IMO. I also want to give kudos to their really great job of modding this site.
