High end fizz help EVH III

I picked up an EVH 5150III last week and it sounds killer, except that I'm hearing high end fizz on the gain channels more than I think is normal.

I had an ENGL Powerball here last week too and it sounded even fizzier...so i don't think there's an issue with the EVH, possibly the cab ?

The cab is an oversize Matamp 2x12 with 16Ohm V30s wired in parallel that I fitted (and wired) myself, they both look pretty new so may not be broken in yet. Iused speaker cable from my stereo speakers as it's high end stuff and much thicker than the normal stuff.

I've tried the EVH through my other Rectifier 1x12 (also V30) and the fizziness is less but still there, that speaker has definitely had some hours on it.

Could I have wired something up wrong ? I would have thought that incorrect wiring would produce no sound, rather than more fizz ?

I also had my ears syringed a few weeks ago and ever since my hearing is in super hi definition, am i just hearing high end fizz that was always there, i just couldn't hear it before ?

Help it's driving me nuts :)

Try playing with the eq/gain on the amp? I've played mine through V30's, G12H-30's, Scumback H75, Celestion 75's and I haven't noticed any fizzyness. But then again, i haven't had my ears flushed lately

The Vintage 30 is a fine speaker and to me any amp sounds pretty good through it...

This could very possbly be a result of the knd of room you are in, signal chain, pickups...etc. I am very sensitive to "hair" on top of overdrive and it drives me crazy too!! Parasitic occilation perhaps? Bad preamp tubes? Have a good amp guy close?

Any chance i've wired up the cab wrong ? Or missed something else ?

Can you post how you wired it? Here's six examples I use and I hope they help if needed

It could be your preamp tubes.

Some preamp tubes sound fizzier
if that is a word.

I've never played with the 5150 III yet, however, all the other 5150/6505 5152/6505+ have this characteristic fizz in the top end of the distortion. It's brought out the more you crank the treble and even more with the presence knob once you pass the 2 oclock mark it''ll start to sound like a swarm of bees

Like above posters have said, your room, position to the amp, tubes, speakers (V30's do this a lot) etc could be the culprit. But if you feel there might be a problem with the amp itself, what you should do it find a music store or someone else who has an unmodified 5150 III and play through it to see if you still hear it.

Cool. Do you have one for 2x12 cabs?? I think I know how I would do it based on this drawing but it wouldn't hurt to see it on paper.

This might be a stupid question, but what volume are you playing at? Are the power tubes opened up at all? And what is your gain set to? Does the fizz drop off when you roll the gain back?

the 5150s are known for their fizz; hard to tell if it's more than normal without a clip.
On my S1S0 module stones, I sometimes do a surgically tight q reduction around 5.4 in the hi end with a para eq
