High Gain Amp Shootout!

Both boosted Marshall's for me (JCM 800 and Purple JCM). Rectifier sounded killer too as did the little Soldano!!

For me, the boosted marshalls were great.

For the song, Soldano all day.

Thanks for taking the time to record that! I thought all sounded great in the context of the track.
My nod goes to the boosted Soldano or the Friedman Marshall.

Interesting with the Soldano being 16-20 watts with EL84's and holding it's own easily against 50 and 100 watt heads through a microphone.
Liked The 2203 at the end the best, followed by the Soldano and the Mesa.

For my ears and monitor set up (qsc hpri12's.. I like it loud) the amps I'd have to choose between would be the Friedman and the Mesa.

Nearly every other amp sounds like it's eq'd for the same tone. Slight variations of the same thing. The Friedman sounded like it just did it better. The Mesa was the most unique out of the bunch. Something about that mesa just stood out from the pack. Not necessarily better, but it would stand out from every other amp tone you put on the video

I'd be damn happy with any of the tones, sounds great!!

JCM 800 and Mesa for me, all the Marshalls were great to be honest. I think there is something seriously wrong with that 5150, very weird to hear it so dark sounding, it was the worst by a big margin.

With headphones I can hear a big difference between amps. The Marshalls and Soldano sounded best to me. VH4 was really cool but it has that weird clinky low end thing that only a Diezel has. Still a fan of the amp though.
Rockerverb sounded good and I always like a good recto in a mix but it need a different sound blended with it.

Marshalls sounded the best to me. The Soldano actually sounded better than I though it would. More saturated than the others, for sure. My favorite I think was the boosted JCM800 2203.

Having owned a VH4, though... it was EQ'd wrong. I mean I know you EQ'd it to sound how you wanted. But there are a few tricks with that amp to get it to sound crushing. And that would be to bring the channel volume up to at least 2:00, bring the mids up, and lower the presence a bit (you had it maxed????). But yeah, everyone's a critic. ;)

Overall, awesome job!

All sounded really good. Not the same though. I liked all the Marshalls, the Recto and the Soldano.

Just got a VH4, do you mind sharing your settings? :)
I think mine sounds really awesome, but slightly too dark and compressed, any tipps?

A great idea in the future would be to provide the clips and not reveal the amp type as a visual, instead just amp #1, etc, etc

then ask folks to vote.....bias can creep in because individuals have bias by nature.

You quoted my tips lol. Crank the mids.

This is outstanding, opened my eyes to re-amping for sure.
You dialed all those amps in close, real close and that is something I've never seen on this level
Cool as hell

Orange surprised me. Fav maybe the JCM
Worth a second or third listen!!

the rec sounded more "open" and ... big.

the soldano also sounded very big in the mix.
