Ok, I've owned my TriAmp Mark I for two years now. And while it still sounds great, I think I'm about ready for something different. So I'm looking for a nice high gain two channel amp. Keep in mind that I play hard rock, so I don't need something voiced for uber metal. My price range is somewhere around $1300. I know that this will probably be a used amp. So what do you guys recomend?

Suhr ( CAA ) PT-100 or SE-Plus

How much have Suhr amps changed over the last 4 years or so? I remember playing SteveVHT's Suhr amps and couldn't stand the gain channels, jusyt nasty and harsh sounding. The cleans were really nice though. But i see the amps have changed and the clips that I've heard sound good.

Splawn Quickrod? I know mine is addicting to play for rhythm and lead, plus it has a good clean channel (newer version). Your budget it just right for used one.

I second this. Slawns are awesome amps and the used prices are right up your alley.

I agree with the Quickrod suggestion.

JCA100H? Though I have to admit from the clips I heard it didn't seem too responsive, seemed like every chord and every note sounded somewhat the same.

Egnater has two new heads, the Armageddon and the smaller version of it, maybe you might like those?

Mesa Mk3 seems very popular these days.

Could you get a used Uberschall for that in the US?

A used Stiletto Duece II. They are so transparent to what goes in the front end of the amp. every guitar and stompbox change is very noticable with the stilettos.

+3 on the Splawn Quirkrod. Would definitely cover from classic to hard rock.

MarkIII :D Good cleans, can do hard rock, and if you ever do need Some high gain metal you can get it at the turn of a knob. Plus it has one of the best lead channels around IMO.

For $1300?

No, probably not ..., but I missed the OP's price point when I originally read it ( oops ) !

But that said, it'd still be worth the wait to save up the extra "scratch".

IMHO, best channel switcher made ( especially the PT ) ----->

Yeah, I've been thinking about the Splawn. I'll have to look around. My time frame is going to depend on whether or not I decided to sell my TriAmp.

Used Soldano Hot Rod or Decatone
Laney VH100R
Randall RM100(modular head)
