Anyone ever run a high gain pedal like the Suhr Riot, Toneczar Openhaus, Tonefreak Severe, in front of their Egnater? It seems that for cleans and vintage sounds Egnater has it down, but not a lot of options for high gain. I know about the EG5 and SL2X and whatnot, but I'm just curious if any of these pedals would really turn a Mod50 into a screaming high gain beast.

Dude, I'm not trying to slam you or anything seriously. I just wanted to mak ethe general comment that I have no idea where this "Egnater doe snot do high gain" thing comes from. Excluding the Randall modules, many off which are very heavey, there is EG5, SL2, SL2X, EG3/4, ERECT. Pretty serious gain situation going on there if you ask me.

Sorry,, back to your question. I have only heard of moderate gain pedals being used. I would love to hear a Riot into a Bassman module though.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not big on the high gain options. They're all very..... polished? I guess that's the only word to use. They all have a ton of gain, but I find they either sound distinctly 80s/Marshall, or really smooth. Maybe "aggressive" is the term I should have used, instead of high gain.

I play aggressive high gain and never have an issue with the SL2, SL2X, Erect or EG3/4X.

What amp's do you consider aggressive high gain????

I used to play a Herbert. I actually prefer the EG3/4X module.....but I also find them close. I prefer the 50 watt head too. Maybe you would need the 100 watter.
