Anybody have clips? Lookn' for an idea of just what they're all about.

I saw a few mediocre videos, but nothing that seemed to be a real thorough representation- audio recorded with a camera, no specifics on guitar, pickups, EQ, boost, etc. A+ for effort though. All I've gathered so far is that it appears to sound a little on the dark/dull side. Could be way off though. Does anybody have the means to lay down a proper representation? Mucho appreciation!

Gave them a shot. I didn't care for them. I much prefer V30's. YMMV.

Isn't most of Zakk Wilde's stuff played through those speakers?

That is a pretty solid comparison video. I settled on an EVM 12L/v30 combo myself, suits what I do well.

Wylde uses his beefed up sig version, same voicing?

I think Pat O'brien from cannibal corpses uses em as well. Can't really get much higher gain than that..

around the 7:45 mark they're talkin shop, no specific mention of which cab though

BLS should be EVM 12L. Especially live. And I think newer Cannibal Corpse uses them on some stuff as well.

I've been using a quad of the black label version with my Herbert. I don't think there's any way to capture how they truly sound/feel with a recording. They are huge sounding. And the BLS version is not dark at all. However you dial in your amp is how they sound. I can dial in a schlode of bass and deep on the Herbie and the speakers handle it just fine. It's almost like standing in front of a sub. They move a lot of air. But they still sound clear and defined. Every other speaker I've tried with the Herbert farts out if you try to use too much low end.

Great videos guy, thanks!

Oh, and here's my current setup, if it's any indication of what can be achieved with a quad or mix. Not too sure what I'd pair them with at this point though.

I have a few EVM 12S speakers, which are very similar. They sound huge with a MarkIV running into them- with a pair of C90s the tone is really rich & complex. Ever since I got them I cannot stand using V30s.

I have a pair .... I love them for huge cleans and lead sounds. I do not like them for crunch rhythm stuff. They do not crunch like a lot of speakers. Just a matter of taste...

I love my 12Ls, and the crunch is harder than the extremes. I'm able to get there it just takes a little tweaking. I just always assumed a lot of crunch tone was speaker breakup, which 12ls don't do, so you kind of have to work from there.

Agree .... It is the fact they don't break up is why I like other speakers better for most of the stuff I do. They are easy my favorite for clean stuff. I tend to not like a lot of speaker break up for most of the stuff I do. Less than most people anyway....
Have no interest in selling mine ... But not the ones I use most.

I just swapped the V30's and GT12-T75's that came in my Uberkab with a quad of 20 year old 25W Greenies. Unfortunately 2 of them were damaged in shipping :aww:

So I'd like to replace them and do whatever can be done to salvage them if you guys have any pointers there. Does the astronomical power handling difference between the greenies and the EVM's rule out any possibility of mixing the two? Or does that not apply?

Sidenote- the V30's and 75's will be up for grabs in a couple weeks when I get back from work. They made for an ungodly huge sound but all in all just didn't mesh with the Cobra very well to my ears. I will miss that crazy rumble though.

They're not EVM 12L's but I use Eminence Delta Pro A's. Eminence's version of the 12L Mine are pretty broke in got about 8 yrs of on/off gigging with them. I love them it's what I usually use. I'm running a FL 2x12 with a 100 watt Diezel Einstein. I'm trying a pair of G12-65's in that FL cab so I put one in a sealed slightly oversized FL 1x12, sounds awesome again. I can post some iPhone clips of it tomorrow.

Got an EVM 12L and a Black Shadow (that was in my Mark IV combo) in a 2x12 (closed), it makes a heavy cab to lug around but it does sound huge with my Mark IV. I didn't want to butcher my combo into a head, so I built a head to fit my amp and I already had a homemade 2x12 cab so why not try that speaker combo... I'm not disappointed, it's huge. Well to me it is. Don't be afraid to try different things, even if it might look weird to others.
