High quality para EQ or mid boost for effects loop!

Hi all!

For all of my amps, I love the tone and tens to use the amp solo boost or second master for solos. However, there are times I want the mids to pop out and give me thicker mids and maybe less highs for example than my rhythm tone. Essentially, I may want a different EQ for rhythm and lead. It could be any way too boost mids.

I want a high end, well made, easy to use, simple but great sounding para eq with most likely a good buffer and does not destroy my amp's tone. For use in effects loop.

I would also take the right mid boost pedal.

I want at least one pedal in the loop to have a buffer and my main concern is mids so I am leaning toward the Koko. One thing that concerns me about the Koko is no adjustment for bass and treble and sometimes the best way to EQ to boost mids is to cut bass and treble. Just boosting mids could introduce some mud, no? Maybe not.

I like pedals that have few knobs and are easy to use on the fly.

I have a BFG modded Mesa DR, Bogner 20th Shiva and PWE EH.

I really like my Furman PQ3. It gives me total control over what frequencies I accentuate and boost into the amp. Works good in the loop too. It can be a bit hissy at higher db levels, but my NS-2 takes care of that with no problems. :thumbsup:
 
Never heard of the presonus...or furman. Thanks.

Is the Empress that good? Seems like a total pain to tweak!

I really prefer easy and simple. I know a lot of guys use an Xotic EP in the loop for solos. I may start there.
 
I've tried a Furman and also an Ashly, both were ok but noisy and sucked tone when switched to bypass. The best I've tried by far (which I still have) is the TC Electronic 1140. Very clean and no tone loss in bypass mode. Footswitchable too - the very best, if you can find one.

The parametric eq built into the G-Major is actually also really good.
 
I have a Frommel Shape.

It dominates or not, depending on how severe you set it.

I use it on my line out to a wet amp to change the tone of it so I have different but complimentary tones.

It is like owning a sport bike.

They only go 180 if you crack the throttle wide open.
 
You guys realize I am looking at pedals only? The Fromel Shape, Dr. Scientist The Cleanness and Suhr Koko Boost Reloaded are tops on my list and all have good buffers.

My loops are tube buffeted but with my Shiva sometimes I worry I may experience a volume drop down the road, if I don't have a good buffer.
 
A Para EQ is an EQ that isolates a user set frequency & ether boosts it or cuts it. I like using them to get rid of set frequencies & use a Graphic EQ to shape. Most pedals are set up to boost or cut a set or group of frequencies, whether it be in the lows, mids, or highs. That's not the same as a Para EQ.

Now if we had an example of the type of tone you have in your head, we'd have a better idea as to what you want.

The only two pedals I understand are the Koko Boost & Xotic EP. The Koko is a mid boost & the Reloaded is just voiced different. The EP is similar. From what I gather from you OP, it sounds like you'd be best served by getting a Fuzz of some kind.

Im confused, you say you want a parametric eq then ask about an EP Booster. I'm not sure you know exactly what you want. The EP adds some low end and is nothing remotely close to an eq.
 
I only mention the EP because when I mentioned to a few people looking for a mid boost or para EQ, it was mentioned to just get an EP Boost and run in the loop.
