I went to my friends house because he wanted to tried my evh 50 watter. So he had a Nuno Randall halfstack, so i ask him to let me try his 4x12. So i did and i was blown away by the sound. What i don't like about the evh is that the gain kind of grainy but through this cab sounded. Creamy and buttery!!!!! So what kind of higher wattage greenbacks do you guys recommend? I'm open to any brand. Thanks!!!!

The Eminence Wizard is an excellent option.

I'm definitely a Greenback guy as far as my current set up goes and have always heard people drawing parallels between the greenies and Wizards. Pulled the trigger on a quad a while back with far too much faith invested in this consensus. I see no similarities here. Loaned them to a friend who was also looking for a greenback vibe. He didn't hear it, either.

Doesn't help that at 3 out of the 4 speakers are damaged and distort like a Big Muff on on a pristinely clean channel at any volume, all the way down to a whisper. Can't even get a 2x12 out of them. I should be pursuing my money back, but here they sit. I'd at least use them as a doorstop but the damn featherweight magnets aren't even heavy enough for that, as another friend pointed out.

Literally useless.

The magnet on a Wizard is half a pound HEAVIER than the magnet on a Greenback. If that's not enough magnet for you then buy an EV

I use the Wizards quite a bit live and in the studio and love them. Fantastic speakers for pairing with my Science, Splawn and Sovtek heads.

What speakers are you using right now? The EVH 2x12 has G12H30's in it...The amp sounds HUGE with these.

Wait.. are we talking Redcoat The Wizards or like.. AC/DC Wizard Wizards? Redcoats, I could totally see. I recently handles both and these Wizards are feather light. I guess they only have a 20W power rating, so my argument is invalid and we must be talking redcoats.

And I've considered the EVM's! Gunna have to hit the gym before I handle the suckers though

Now I'm not really sure what you're talking about. The Eminence Wizard is a high powered greenback style speaker. It handles 75W and has bigger bass and less speaker breakup.

Austin Speaker Works Crossroads....these are the best high powered greenback replicas made today imo

I have a Weber Legacy 65w and Weber Gray Wolf 75w mix in my Mesa 212. Sounds great.

There is a guy on here (EVHpickdust) with ALL the versions of the 5150III and the cabinets. He thinks the V30s don't sound good with this amp and the matching speakers sound the best. But here's some clips with different speaker setups:

Here's a clip I made last night at lower volumes with the G12H30s in the 2x12:

This guy is using Celestion G12 Creambacks, which sound pretty nice too:

This is an old clip I made using 4x12 with G12-65s from the early 1980s. Sort of like a higher wattage greenback I have heard.

Nothing sounds like a Greenback.
There are some fine options with a different take on it, but not with the woody restraint of the GB (that I've tried).
With a 50w amp, unless you are cranking the master, you'll be fine with a pair of GBs in a 2x12.
Same as 100w amp users using GBs in a 4x12, which is a classic pairing.
In fact, same as you used as the NB is 100w.

Heres a little interesting tidbit I will share....who else here has tried the Crossroads?? Exibit A: Marshall 68 build...4X12 cab with Scumbacks....2X12 cab with Crossroads.....guess which one sounded better and cut through??
This was done with Scumback diehards....they couldnt believe the difference. You couldnt even hear the 4X12 over the 2X12....now that is saying something...just sayin.
