History of the JCM 800

Marshall put out their own history video, learned a few things. You gurus probably already knew…

I had no idea it was named after James C Marshall’s initials (should have figured that one) and the 800 was his license plate number.

I love how they mention the “redesign” they did was an improvement, yet the pot mounted pcb was the exact opposite.

Is it hard to depth mod those? I always thought those are great for heavy tones if you can gets pickups and a boost hot enough to really get them going, but the lack of sub lows always bothered me. Especially coming from playing Rectos and 5150's.

Takes 5 mins to add a depth mod to one. Never had the desire to do it to a stock one though. They use .022 coupling caps so plenty of bass in preamp.
