I had been thinking about replacing the stock pickups in my 1980 Tokai LP. There are so many good quality pickups available these days, it makes it difficult to decide what to get. I heard many great things about the BKPs and looked into them. The Mules seemed to be close to what I wanted so I was going to buy a set of them in a couple of weeks.

So last week, a used set popped up in Holland for a great price and I bought them on the spot. I also wanted to replace the pots in my LP so was going to order some this week but yesterday I broke a string on the LP and that was clearly a sign from God telling me to swap the pickups right away.  So I installed the pickups with the original electronics.

HOLY SHIT, what a difference, it's like I got a whole new guitar. The LP sounded really good before the pickup swap, but now it sounds awesome. The Mules are amazing pickups. The bridge sounds big and fat with a lot of clarity and articulation, it crunches like there's no tomorrow. The neck pickup has no muddiness whatsoever and sounds syrupy sweet. The in-between tones are yummy and much more useable compaired to the original pickups. I couldn't put the guitar down which is always a good sign. It could only have been better if the pickups had aged covers to match the aged look of the LP but they will look aged soon enough as I'll be playing this one a LOT from now on.

Dunno if you are familiar with these guys, concerning electronics? :)
