joke aint it.....i had to sell my slo & my after thoughts were that it wasnt a sound that was $3550 better than my marshall 4100 amp that i got for $450....still got the marshall !

I'd never pay that but the SLO is still the best sounding amp Ive ever owned!!

I've owned the SLO. Recently I played through the Axe FX II. I am currently of the opinion that tube amps are in trouble. Not that I won't buy more tube amps, but 4k.... ain't happening.

Fortunately, Mike doesn't depend on RT to support his company. It's all about the manual labor, quality build, lifetime warranty and maintaining brand. They aren't meant to be affordable or to please everyone.

Bill Sundt, Soldano's right hand man, told me about this several months ago. It's their first SLO price increase in many years was his word.
Be that as it may, it is what it is. SharkDiver's SLO-r is a friggin steal now: new they are like $7k or more.
I purchased my SLO-r directly from Mike in ~1990 for about $2200. The regular head was under 2k.
Of course when I was a kid comic books were 20 or 25 cents.
I remember riding the bus to school with Moses and he brought a pet dinosaur for show and tell. I remember saying "jesus that's cool" and everybody looked at me like "who's Jesus?"

Jesus... Who remembers when they were 2599 new like 10 years ago??? On second thought the people that buy them new probably don't care about other amps... They want the soldano period.

How much are Diezels? Doesn't a VH4 or Herbert top $4k? Doesn't matter if it is 3 or 2 channel if you like those 2 channels more than the 3.

$4199 is not so bad, these amps are not made or marketed for the Guitar Center crowd. IMHO, people look at spending money on gear the wrong way. Say you are in a golf, volleyball, softball, or bowling league, you will spend $40 and up per week on those hobbies. That's $160 per month, and let's say 10 months per year. The total is $1600 per year. 3 years paid for the SLO. Say a year later you sell it and get $3000, your weekly cost just dropped to almost nothing. That is how you should look at it. Getting the best possible sound out of your gear should be the goal when buying, not how much it cost.
