Holy crap Tag at TGP bought a Dumble!

If I had the bucks, I'd do it - then buy a good clone and have Fuchs or someone tweak the clone to sound the same. Then wait a few years and flip the dumble. Barring any end of the world scenarios, the amp will likely appreciate or at least hold value.

Whatever floats his boat, he sold Ralphie and I our Mesa MkIII Colliseum head at a GREAT price and it kicks all kinds of ass. I wouldnt pay 40k for an amp if I was Bill Gates but to each his own...

I think he actually paid 50k :D

If it makes him happy, good for him. Not my thing, but he clearly LOVED it

The thing that really kills me is that he likes the cleans from his Two Rock Type 3 more than the Dumble. Not to mention that he's already thinking about sending it to TR to possibly mod.

Shit, if I was paying that much for an amp EVERY tone better be the best I've ever heard.

But the thing is that jus like a 58 Les Paul there is collectability in having it. I was considering buying on in the ealy 90s and the 3 K price tag was silly as far as I was concerned, now I could make mad bucks out of it. My friend has a few that I refer o as his retirement fund. I think the most he pai for any od his was 1500.

Threw my 2 cents in over there...shouldn't be long til the shitstorm. :codeak: :uzi: :powpow: :jedi: :force:

It'd be more impressive if Dumble built one, specifically for you. Just buying one used is so passe.

Couldn't he have just bought an Axe-Fx?

All joking aside, I'm willing to bet that in a noisy club that if you tweaked the Axe enough that nobody in the crowd would know, or care about the difference. But i doubt TAG will ever bring that Dumble out of his bedroom. I'm from NJ and I've never heard of him outside of the internet.

If you read the latter part of that thread many guys are creaming their pants to look inside that amp as it seems it could be un-touched and was an original owner amp, ordered in 1984 and received 1989!!!!!

If I was Tag I would charge money to have any work done to it and I am serious about that

Let me pose this hypothetical situation. Let's say someone knew a really talented ampbuilder. That person bought a Dumble for $25,000...had the builder make a clone of it, and then sold the Dumble for $32,000. That'd be a pretty wise move!

You could rip the Dumble apart and measure each value and put it back together...how could anyone prove that you didnt...after all, how many people have seen the inside of one? Then making a clone and selling off the original.

I guess the problem is the amount of goop that would have to be removed, I guess old Howie really when to town with that stuff.

In my own twisted way I am enjoying that thread :D

I want to know how Lark St got it in the first place? I wonder how much they paid for it...

It wont make a bit of difference at all. No matter what you do even if you clone the amp within a millimeter of its life there will be people who claim to hear a difference between the clone and the orignal.

Oh no...Buzzy always has cool/rare stuff in his shop. The guy who bought my EBMM EVH traded an original Trainwreck to Lark Street for a mid 50's Strat.
