Hi I'm brand new to the forum. Sorry if this has been covered on another post. If so please redirect me. I am looking for any and all information on the rig that Doug played on the "Holy Diver Live" video, 2005. Amps, cabinets, effects. Not interested in guitar specifics. I want this tone bad.

Dio - Holy Diver Live, 2005.

Was just hired in marshalls wasn't it ? and a CAE OD100 at some point. Think his main rig was in South America or summit from the Whitesnake tour so he just grabbed a couple of guitars and a bag of pedals and jumped on a plane when he got the call.

Yup, that was just rented Marshall DSL-100 heads on that tour.

Doug hasn't used any Cameron amps for quite some time now. It's been all Suhr/Golub stuff for the last 4 or 5 years from what i understand, after talking to Doug about his live rig.

I spoke to Mark about Dougs rig and he said Doug uses some of Marks amps more then he let's on...

I'm pretty sure Doug was using the Camerons more around the time when he was a full time member of DIO (back in 2001-2003) and also on the Burning Rain albums, as that sounds like trademark Cameron tone to me.

But if you listen to Doug's tone these days, it is totally different to the Cameron stuff... Has way different mids/low end and it much more round sounding in comparison. Less gainy too!

This is a badass tune. Too bad they don't play the whole thing.

Extra Fetures Doug Explains that he used whatever amps that were there ...And brought several Pedals...

Doug's RECORDED tone with Whitesnake is awful IMO - way too buzzy and bottom end heavy. The Burning Rain tones were killer - to my ears anyway

I do love the tone he had on the live Whitesnake dvd and Dio's Evil Or Divine. Same gear I know

This is my favorite Doug tone... I never could make any of the DSLs I owned sound like this...

I agree. I was kind of shocked when I heard the Whitesnake album. Sounded really fuzzy and nothing like his live tone. :(

That's cos it's not a DSL ;) different tour, different rig, that's his modded Marshall's like he uses with Whitesnake ;)

Well, I guess that would explain it then. :) His Evil or Dinine and Whitesnake DVD tones are my favorites. Would love to have that tone. The other question to consider, is how much of this tone is due to his PQ3? Nobody ever mentions that...

It's actually been discussed quite a bit on other threads.
