Though its investment value is kinda moot because I would feel horrible if I got rid of it. That said it puts things in perspective to me... early 60s refin for $3500 vs. $5500 for the Suhr.

Years ago I paid $500 for '68 Ric 4001, jetglo (black) with checkerboard binding; sold it for $800 a few years later. It was in near mint condition, with all original components including the case. I saw a similar one on ebay last year that was in barely good condition, with missing components, etc. the last bid on the bay I saw was $7500! Only instrument I ever regretted selling.
I've paid $2500 for a guitar and would go as high as $3K if it was something I really wanted and the funds were available. That just happens to be where the guitars I want seem to be priced. Most are below the $2K mark. I'm not really thinking about resale value, my son will get these when I'm gone, if not before.
Of course, there are $4K+ gibsons and other out there too that I'd not touch at even half the price.

A guitar is worth what you are willing to spend and the seller is willing to sell it for!
