There is no guitar worth $5500 to me. There is no guitar worth $2500 to me.

Well if it were a vintage piece that I knew would hold/increase its value that's one thing. But you're pretty much guaranteed to take a big loss on a guitar like this for resale.

Don't get me started a few years back I turned down a early 60s refin Strat because he wanted 3500 and it didn't want to pay more than 3200. :-(

Well I've done a lot of stupid things, but getting my refin '63 for $2200 ($3000 CDN in '97) wasn't one of them ;) Though its investment value is kinda moot because I would feel horrible if I got rid of it. That said it puts things in perspective to me... early 60s refin for $3500 vs. $5500 for the Suhr.

WELL, AS I SAID I USUALLY NEVER SELL STUFF. AND IT WASN'T FOR INVESTMENT REASONS. THAT GUITAR ALSO BEYOND KILLED. HOWEVE AT THAT TIME I COULD ONLY SCRAPE 3200...SO IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Damn caps lock...sorry.

5500 for a Modern?!?!?!?!?! Let me rephrase that 5500 for a bolt on with a Floyd?!?!?! Wait...5500? for a demo model off the NAMM booth?!?!?!

Alternatively I'd rather drop 30% less and get this...

My thoughts as well, NAMM Guitar = abused used and rode hard and put away wet.

I would feel bad the first time I slid the fucker across a mic stand.

I would never, even if i was filthy rich, buy a guitar for $5500. Why would anyone? You get so much other killer gear for that kind of money.

Yeah, I use to say stuff like that too. Then I dropped 500,000k on a car. Depending on your means perspectives change. Whether you think so now or not. I would buy it, enjoy it, and if I decided to sell it would not be concerned about resale. I wouldn't buy it as an investment. If you don't go into debt, the economy is never really that bad.

That top was so bright it hurt my eyes!

Seriously, if money wasn't a problem, I'd have all kinds of things that would be hard to justify otherwise.

Years ago I paid $500 for '68 Ric 4001, jetglo (black) with checkerboard binding; sold it for $800 a few years later. It was in near mint condition, with all original components including the case. I saw a similar one on ebay last year that was in barely good condition, with missing components, etc. the last bid on the bay I saw was $7500! Only instrument I ever regretted selling.

I've paid $2500 for a guitar and would go as high as $3K if it was something I really wanted and the funds were available. That just happens to be where the guitars I want seem to be priced. Most are below the $2K mark. I'm not really thinking about resale value, my son will get these when I'm gone, if not before.

Of course, there are $4K+ gibsons and other out there too that I'd not touch at even half the price.

Like this fugly example,

A guitar is worth what you are willing to spend and the seller is willing to sell it for!

I'm in love

Yeah, I really have been thinking about this one to go with my Suhr one piece Maple Modern. Would be a cool pair.
