Saw Richie at Freebird Live in Jax Beach last night... dude is a fucking WITCH! Righteous, bluesy, funky grooves, SMOKIN' vocals and just straight up SICK skills on his gorgeous signature Tele & Strat!

I knew the boy had skills, but shit... never touched a pick the entire night, either! Incredibly dynamics and blazing shred all straight fingerstyle and BADASS tone through one of these...

Talking to him after the show, he's dropped his Cornford endorsement and is all about the hand-wired 20 watter love now. Completely simple setup with a Sobbat Drive Breaker Overdrive, Zoom multi-effects pedal and a Carbon Copy, which he really should do a demo video for! He was reachin' down and tweakin' some seriously cool shit out of it all night!

Got some great pics from the front row, hope to have 'em up later today.

Man, I'm blown away. It's just plain fucking WRONG that a dude can play AND sing like that! If you have the chance to catch this guy live, DO NOT miss it! :rock:

He is one of the last true guitar Sorcerer's left.
The boy always had major fret skills, but he brought
his singing waaaaaaay up over the years.
He's grown to be quite the all around polished musician.

He played right at an hour and a half. Opening act was a local shred guy, a friend of mine, Tony Smotherman.

To be fair, what Richie said when I asked him if he was still playing his Cornfords was "No, I'm totally into the low-watt amps now". He's still listed on Cornford's site, so maybe he's just riding out the deal to make some extra scratch off the signature head.

I was really bummed that only about 60 or so people made the show. It seems like about the only thing that sells out in this damn town is Tim McGraw concerts and monster truck shows! :doh:

Always loved Richie's stuff. Hated his Cornford tone. If he's using vintage style Marshalls his tone will only benefit.

Now I'm really gonna love the guy. :rock:
 
I actually own one of his old Marshalls. . .a '1971 100 watt superlead. He used it during his time in Poison, and also during the Mother Head's Family Reunion disc. It's actually pictured on that CD's booklet.

Richie is a truely great musician. I really wish he would do an album of "bringing the pain" instead of the laid back stuff.
 
man, I really wanted to see him in Orlando the other night, but I had no one to go with :(

I wish I could find people my age who were interested in my kind of music...

Why didn't you go by yourself? Seems lame but if it is someone you really want to see you are not going to be talking to your friends etc anyways.
