I thought the same thing after hearing clips. I really struggled to get enough saturation out of mine to make it playing friendly. I felt like I was wrestling the amp and it choked your playing. It has gain, but not saturation. It wasn’t fun to play at all and I ended up selling it. 10/10 would recommend a stock Marshall with a boost over a CB. It’s a great amp but for the price it was a hard pill to swallow.
Agreed. That clip sounds good, but I used to own a Cherry Bomb and although it sounded pretty good, the Wizard I had at the time smoked it as well as a Gower modded Marshall I had at the time. I also agree that it didn’t have a good feel at all. Hard to explain. The Wizard somehow felt a lot better, even though it was still the more unforgiving and honest amp

Of the choices listed I’d say it’s really between the Larry, Hermannson, Monomyth or Wizard. The other choices aren’t on the same level IMO. I have a 2016 Wizard MTL, had a ‘96 Wizard MC, and have a Monomyth. They’re the Marshall type amps that have stayed so far (plus the Cameron’s) of the countless others I’ve owned and tried. As Psychodave said, the Cameron’s are also great, but hard to find and pricy. I ordered a Larry PMM, so I’ll see how that turns out. Never tried a Hermansson, but the clips sound very promising to me

i understand about the feel, i have a hermansson carlsbro and the feeling is definitely unique, it has the most immediate attack of any amp ive played but without the stiff "fighting the amp" feel. hard to describe

Hoping Brad can get 2021 production back online for the CCV. I want one so bad but not at the sale prices they go for on the used market ?

I’m hoping Mark gets them to market. Not sure if anyone else can legally do it with the “Cameron” name. :D

Did the remaining 7 people or whatever it is ever get reimbursed/restitution? It would be great if Mark could start from a clean slate. If it were me, I know that I would take out a bank loan if I had to to get that part behind me.

I have a Monomyth and have a Ceriatone Molecular being delivered Monday. I'm really interested in comparing the 2. The Splawns I've owned were really nice and would love to revisit them especially with all the options.

Ha! That’s my clip.

The Cherry Bomb is the best hot rodded Marshall type amp I’ve ever played.....and with very few exceptions, I’ve owned most of the big boys.

With that said, what I like may not be what you like.....and there are a lot of really good options out there.

The Cherry Bomb does it for me. Hope you find what does it for you

Yep big shout out to this dude as well. Mctallica stepped up and sent me some tubes to roll to try to get the cherry bomb into a happy place and although there were noticeable differences, what I was looking for was just more than what the CB could deliver.

I never tried it with a boost out front, but really want to give another one a try someday. I sold the amp to help with down payment on a new car at the time and not because of the tone. One day I’ll give it another go.

Well the ones that were best to me so far have been the Monomyth, Cameron’s, and Wizard MTL or even a good stock Marshall with a boost. Those are worth checking out IMO if you haven’t. I very much like the types of tones you go for in your clips, so I think we’re on the same page there, I just honestly didn’t feel the Cherry Bomb I had faired as well when I AB’ed it with other amps I had at the time. To each their own

FWIW, some of the other Marshall-y amps I’ve owned in the past were a Mezzabarba Mzero Overdrive, 3 other Cameron modded Marshall’s, Bogner Helios, ‘96 Wizard MC, 2 Friedman modded Marshall’s, Friedman Phil X and Butterslax (have tried all their other models), 2 Gower’s, Metroplex, 3 Peters (including a Bodyhammer), Hopkins Pandora modded JMP, Mesa Stiletto Trident stage II, Langner DCP-1 preamp, Soldano SLO, Kruse amps and Kruse V5 modded JCM800, Savage Blitz, Bigtone Studioplex, Homestead HS100, Masotti, Krank 1980

And I’ve tried and AB’ed countless others including Splawns from all eras, Landry, Germino, Roccaforte, Bruno Pony, etc

I’ve been I think pretty thorough in trying various Marshall type amps (except for Larry and Hermansson) and comparing them whenever I could, but these are just my findings

That’s an insane list to think that Monomyth has landed near the top for. It just seems like such a winner.

How does it compare to the Cameron? Difference wise

Well it depends because every Cameron modded Marshall I tried was a little different and the Cameron amps like the CCV is also very different. Compared to everything I’ve tried though, I’d say the Monomyth is tighter, has a more complete growl on powerchords and also is great for leads. It ticks all the boxes for me except for not sounding as open/room filling as I’d like and also noisy, but when I’m finally back in NY from quarantine I’ll see what I could do to sort those things out because then it would be perfect other than those 2 things.

It has similarities with the Cameron modded Marshall’s I’ve owned and tried. In a nutshell the Cameron’s sounded bigger, less compressed while my Monomyth is tighter, has a more aggressive growl and more satisfying to play leads on it. Both mods tend to have tons of gain on tap and don’t really do as well when not used for high gain

My Monomyth has a fairly low noise and with Marshall uk v30's its thick. The only issue I had was lower gain tones had too much treble. Ends up I had the volume/bright cap on. Since figuring that out it does absolutely everything I want out of a hotrodded Marshall or high gain amp. I almost sold it cause I needed some money. Thankfully I was able to sell some other stuff to keep it

I had a Juno for a very brief moment, sold it to a friend. My problem with it was that I was simply running it with the wrong speaker which made my experience really underwhelming. (orange v30). I think the amp does not like V30s at all. When I heard it through my friend's creamback loaded speaker I was blown away to a point where I regretted selling it. It's one of the best hot rodded marshall sounds that i've heard in a long time with all the features. So I'd vote for a Juno despite everything :).

Maybe not brutal enough? Good for '90s/2000s sound.
