pretty amazing and suggests the brilliance of both of these guitarists, who are legends anyway.

When you think of top 10 solo's this song has a entry.
Actually I would think the entire song would be one of the greatest Rock songs of all times  , always will be. Some of you stat people can tell me where it would be on the charts. Felder and Walsh are both icons to me, Frey, not so much   though he played his part.

That's some great tone right there.. not sure how/why anyone would criticize it!

because everyone knows you can only get awesome guitar tones from a deziel ........ :gethim: ............
Kinda what I was going to get at, but didn't want to name names

That was very cool. Nothing wrong with those tones at all. In those days they crafted what sounded great on a multi-track recording with a professional band. Not so much the Youtube tone warriors of today.

Great stuff.

Every instrument has to sit in the mix, so what one would normally assume is a "killer guitar tone" by itself would have to be EQd/notched/etc to fit within the whole song.

As well, if you have two or more instruments taking up the same frequencies, detail is lost.

Sounds great to me.

People need to learn that a 100W valve amp next to you in your bedroom and a great mic'd up tone EQ'd in a mix are different things.

Just because you're not used to a properly mic'd up amp doesn't mean it sounds crap.

One thing that stood out to me is the "dryness" of the tracks. Other than a little phaser swirling at times, those tracks are completely dry.

Huge smiles here.
Absolutely perfect. Playing, arrangement, songcraft, tones and some magic sprinkled in.

There still may be reverb and delay in the final mix, just not printed on the actual guitar track. I wouldn't be surprised though if there's very little in the actual mix so it doesn't obscure the layering. A lot of 70's Queen has the guitar parts pretty dry.

sounds fucking phenomenal. yes, not a huge fan of the song...but there's a lifetime of tonal lesson in this isolated track.
