How are the Mesa Rectifier 2x12s?

Lopoline builds a 2-12 that is really deep like the mesa 2-12's. I have one with Scumbacks in it and it sounds killer. really full, resonant. prob like 1/4 the price. custom colors too.

I have a vertical oversized Mesa loaded with v30s
It kicks ass for recording, a back saver for the quick jam out of your house

My 1960av 4x12 sounds a bit bigger- but not by much.
The speakers are probably the key- find a godd price ona used 2x12 with speakers you like (v30s?) and rock on

Yeah, I definitely want Vintage 30s since they are the standard speaker for metal, and I want this cab as a reference point for recording, so I'm really wanting a cab with the most 'cookie cutter' sound to it.

Another idea that popped into my head would be getting one of those Randall 2x12/1x15s and loading it with Vintage 30s and some 15 inch speaker, since I'm going to be (hopefully) purchasing a Vader 2x15 to pair with the 4x12, and with a Randall loaded with those speakers in the recording room I could get some 15 inch recordings when needed too.

I've been eyeing that cab up for a few months...don't need it, but would love to hear how it responds to drop A

I personally don't like Mesa 2x12's for low volume playing. Very boxy and cold sounding.

+1

I owned a Mesa recto 2x12 cab for a good number of years. It was a decent cab, although I much prefer my Port City 2x12 cab w/ V30's.

I've been wanting to try a Port City cab for awhile now. Also love the Splawn, Bogner OS, and Mills 212's.

The Mesa Recto 2x12s go for around $300ish used. The Mesa Recto 4x12s go for like $450ish used. I'd rather get the 4x12 unless I absolutely needed to have something a little more portable. Volume difference is minimal as they'll both be loud as shit with a proper amp.

Damn, wish I was in Florida then. They def don't sell that cheap here in Chicago.

I picked up my Mesa 2x12 for like $325 locally, and I sold it for around the same price. I believe it was Moshaholic who sold his dead mint Recto 4x12 for something like $395 local pickup or around there. Thanks to the internet, people believe the Mesa Recto 4x12s are inferior to the Traditional/Stiletto ones, so the Recto ones go for less on the used market.

I recently made an open back for my Mesa 2x12 (about 5-6" of an opening) and it took that boxxy quality right out of the mix, much better spread now. Me likey
