How are you guys using your Fryette GP/DI?

I had one a couple years ago and resold it in haste. I just ordered another one to try and give it a fair shake and am thinking of the best way to use it. It's OK directly in to my Captor X for headphone playing. I do not like the built in cab sim very much. Not bad through a cab by itself. Is putting it through a power amp the way to go?

Main use case: it's on my desk, connected to my Helix. I set the GP/DI for a good dirty tone, then use its line out back to Helix where I use the new Helix cab sims. This is my primary practice and recording rig through studio monitors and/or Logic.

Sorry, forgot to mention... I'll often put it through my Fryette PS-2 also. I wouldn't be surprised if that rig sees some gig time when my new band finally gets up and gigging.

I’m very much considering a ps-2. Not just for the GP/di but it seems like a handy tool in general to have around.

It’s only got an itty bitty output stage so it’s not really big sounding directly into a cab. When I use mine, I run the line out into my 2/50/2, sounds pretty good.

I think I just need to put it through its paces and figure out what I want from the amp. I have a khan Pak amp which is smaller than the gp/di and a full 18 watts, but not nearly as versatile. But if all I want is a cool amp that fits in a gig bag, I might already have that covered.
