Hey all,

I have been getting mixed opinions on the proper way to connect my cabs, for some reason, and am coming straight to the experts once and for all. My main confusion comes from the fact that one jack on the cabs has 2 different resistance ratings, and I don't know which one is applicable for my needs.

I am including photos of the back of my Herbert as well as the backs of my 2 cabs. I would sincerely appreciate anyone who can verify exactly where cables should be run, when I'm using both cabs, as well as how to wire for just one cab.

While I clearly should understand the actual phyiscs operating here, I just get more confused when people talk to me about it. I am hoping someone can dumb this down enough for me, and simply say "plug one end of cable here, and the other end here,.... and so on, for each of the 2 scenarios I've described (using both 1 cab and 2).

Peter, your thoughts would obviously be the absolute word on this!!

Thanks very, very much in advance for any/all help.

From each cab run a speaker cable from the Sida A/mono jack to the two left speaker outs of Herbert; those labelled 4 Ohm 2x8 - 4Ohm.

You have two cabs, each has 8 Ohm outs (mono). So the Outputtransformer sees 4 Ohms, cause the two jacks are wired in parallel.
2 x 8 parallel = 4 Ohm

Thats why those two jacks are labelled as they are:
either into one of them a 4 Ohm cab or two 8 Ohm cabs - both run to the 4Ohm leg of the OT.

:)

Thank you VERY much for the prompt and detailed response; I sincerely appreciate it

So, let's test my knowledge based upon your instructions...

If I just want to run the 1 cab, I would still connect to the red jack (Side A/mono) as before, and the other end to either of the 8Ohm-2X16Ohm-8Ohm jacks?

I hope I got it right! :)

Respectfully,

Stu
