mf had 58 plaintop r8's a couple of months ago for 1999 new. my last r9 was a plaintop that i bought for 1999. deals are out there.

No way, are you serious? MF had $3,300 Custom Shop 1958 Reissues for less than a production Les Paul Standard?

yep-58 plaintops. it ws just one finish though. brand new, not b stock or scratch&dent.

I thought that was for only one or two guitars that were either returns or "B's" for some reason...

nope, they were new. i give them a call. it was for one finish. iced tea, I think.

Sick price! I just got a 2007 '57 VOS Goldtop for 2100 Minty Fresh.

...they need to stop trying to copy hamer with the way they do their binding with the fret ends being covered by the binding cause it was a train wreck...

There's not smiley, but surely you jest about copying Hamer.

I sure hope he was kidding, seeing as Gibson was doing binding like that way before Hamer was even in existence. :gethim:
