How do you know if you have carbon copy v1 or v2?
what year was v2 introduced?

As far as I know, the only difference between ver 1 and 2 is the value of the R7 resistor which controls the amount of modulation.
Let me see if I can find the values involved.

Yeah open up the pedal and look at the R7 position. There will be a 000 ohm resistor in R7 in the V2 pedal, while V1 will have a 470 ohm resistor in R7.

Thanks!~

I got v2

How did the 000 resistor change the modulation?

My understanding is that in V1 the effect was very very faint. The V2 chorusing effect I'm told is much more pronounced.

Weird. I opened my brand new one yesterday and mine has a "0" resister in C7. You can also adjust the modulation depth and rate with a jewelers srewdriver.

The v2 also had diode protection that the v1 didn't have.

I don't know what that means but it sounds important.

Usually diode protection means it protects the pedal if someone were to accidentally put in an incorrect power supply with the voltage flipped on the power input to the pedal. So instead of seeing +9V the pedal have the ground at +9V and it would likely damage components.

Not sure if this is what he meant by diode protection though. Id honestly be surprised if a company as big as MXR would produce a pedal without diode protection on the power supply circuit.
