How does Mosvalve compare to Tube Power Amps

The Tubeworks power amps sound great I think. I had a Rocktron Velocity 300 back in the day and although it sounded good, it had to go back to Rocktron about 6 times before I finally got rid of it. They told me it was a design flaw in that the output IC's would overheat and fail.

One important thing to remember, it's also based on your speakers, regarding midrange and bass, or lack of.....

I'm using a Marshall basketweave 4x12, with 4x G-12M 25 watt speakers. It's a 1982 cab, so it's a thick hunk of wood to boot....100 watts...

It growls with solid mids, and deep bass.... not the same on my 2x12 cab, nor the same on a 300w cab.....any amp is subject to the speakers/cabinet connected to it.....

If anyone's interested, the link in my sig is a full site now.. I've archived all the Tube Works manuals, got alot of pics, forums, all that.. if any Tube Works fans feel like helping out, please do stop on by..

Thanks guys.

I got a old Mos Valve 500, same exact one Chris Poland uses to this day and it is what Jerry Cantrell used back in the early AIC days. I consider it a "pro level" high end power amp and it is made in the USA, best thing of all is I only paid 250 dollars for it.

The later Mos Valves were made in China or maybe those were the Genz Benz amps and those were considered junk.

It doesn't. They sound OK if you're playing low volume stuff.
I played an MP-1 and had one for a backup to my VHT poweramp. When the VHT went down, I used the Mosvalve and it was super fkn THIN! Very, very weak in comparison!

A Mesa 50/50 is a great sounding power amp! you will love it with the MP-1!!

The only overseas products MAY have been the Chandler stuff. When BK was fully in charge, all his stuff was USA made....

those mosvalves are getting pretty old. I doubt they sound like they did when they were made. Most, if not all of them, would most likely benefit from a complete cap job. Caps definitely degrade over time.
