How does the Small Box compare to the Pink Taco?

Hi,

I read Dave Friedman's thoughts about the Small Box compared to the BE 100.
I know BE and Pink Taco - does the Small Box sit inbetween of both? Is the BE side of the Small Box compareable to the Pink Taco?
I like the Pink Taco cause of its size and wight (and of course the tone), but would like a little more flexibility, especially with the clean sound. If there are no big differences between SB and PT soundwise, I would wait for the Small Box.

Did anybody play both and could give me his impression?

i feel the same, if the smallbox is a pink taco with some extra goodies, then il def wait for a it.
 
The Smallbox is an el34 based amp, not an el84. Right there...there will be more girth and beef with the Smallbox. The Smallbox also has two channel, with the first being a plexi channel, and the second being the BE channel. I'm sure you can get similar tones out of both, but the Smallbox will have "more" of everything as well as the channel switching. Both have effect loops.

I am seriously considering letting go the BE-100 and just running a Smallbox. Killer amp that's a little more vintage sounding than the BE-100...cuts well. Heard it at NAMM and was very impressed.
 
this means that the small box is a 3 gain stage amp?

Dave which tubes would you suggest for the small box?
Tungsol-chinese preamp
JJ poweramp
(same as with the big BE100?)
 
Well, if Dave would just post the schematics, we would really know the differences :thumbsup: ....eh, maybe not. :no:

Just a guess, but most likely the ones that it comes with
 
Not sure really what to say? The dirty channels on both amps are about the same. With the small box you get the plexi channel and el34 50 watt power section. The pink taco has this cool el84 flavor though which I like. Just a touch of vox. Just depends on what you need.
 
is the dirty channel of the SB the same as the BE100 or has it (just like the clean channel) more mids?
