Wow, I've never been that furious for quiet a while.

9 months ago I ordered bkp covered 7 string nailbomb set for my framus panthera 7 string custom guitar.

The covered pickups didn't fit the rings and the rings broke while I was trying fitting the pickups in.

I emailed Framus and they wanted 100 euros for the shipping(!) to Israel and wouldn't consider shipping in any other way - and this is not even scratching what I'm talking about.

I figured out later the rings broke because they would never fit anyway, it wasn't accidental, the BKP covered 7 string pups are sized differently.

I decided to go with the guy from pickuprings.com, I asked framus if the dimensions are like seymour duncan's 7 string pickup rings - they said YES.

I told him these dimensions plus the dimensions of the BKP's - after 4 months of waiting and having millions of excuses the guy delivered me rings that won't fit.

They didn't fit btw because what Framus told me was false - these were rings they manufactured themselves, not seymour duncan, and they were different.

I asked him to send me rings that would fit, he asked me to send him the original rings promising he'll deliver this time - which after waiting 2 more months he didn't do.

I decided to send the BKP's to bareknuckle to uncover figuring I can then buy regular rings without a custom job - did it, and this time asked Framus if they could send me the rings to france where some of my family lives, they also did that.

Turns out - the Framus rings(which I received a few days ago) WON'T FIT the guitar because Framus changed the rings type they were using to another and they don't stock any rings anymore - so they basically told me they have nothing to do and suggested I'll talk to seymour duncan(Sounds Like a plan....).

So, my uncovered BKP's are on my mail, not only I've sent them for free to uncover, now it looks quiet impossible to fit them or ANY other pickups to my guitar. AWESOME.

BTW - they still can't tell their pickup ring dimensions, I measured them myself hoping I didn't make a mistake anywhere.

Great support Framus, thanks allot. This is disgusting, the worst support I've ever encountered in this business.

Maybe you can trace the original rings that are close to what you want, onto a piece of paper, and send them to your friend at pickuprings.com. Maybe that would assist with duplicating rings that will work.

what about direct mounting them? there's tons of info if you google that.... i hate bummer ass shit like this though...sorry to read your story....best of luck.

So you changed up the stock guitar, things didn't work out perfectly, they couldn't fix YOUR problems modding their guitar, they have since changed suppliers of parts (how old is this guitar anyway??), leaving you to have to come up with a fix for a problem you caused by modding the guitar?

And you start a sour grapes thread about how they f'd you...

Huh.

sorry but no sympathy here...you fucked up and you broke the rings. The problem is all yours.....

It's a good thing to read before you type a comment dude.

Your point is confirmed by who?
I never modded the guitar, changing pickups is far from being a mod.
These guitars are supposed to last a lifetime and gig\tour worthy instruments, parts wear off,
a company should provide the customer with replacements. The guitar is 2 years old btw.

FWIW - the thing is solved, Framus CEO called me home to solve this and said that as long the rings cover the wholes getting a local tech to drill new holes won't hurt the finish. So that's what I'm going to have my tech do.

Changing pickups IS a mod.

Sounds like they took care of you anyway, so you were in no way f***ed by them. The only things f***rd is the fact that YOU broke the pickup rings and somehow made it their problem.

They should "provide" with parts for a lifetime? Just curious - how old are you?

Changing anything on the guitar, except for strings is a mod (modification), no matter how slight or minor.

And by drilling new holes in your Framus, you are now modding it further. Make sure that you are planning to keep the guitar for awhile, before you start drilling.

Please save me from reading about what you think from now on.

Well, that seems to be the only solution, recommended by the head of the company itself.
I think I'll be keeping it, yepp.

And well, he presented it in a way like I modded the guitar's body or something, which I obviously didn't.
How can you blame someone for changing their pickups?

Thanks by the way, for making a post worth replying to.

Butthurt over pickup rings.

Now I've seen it all . . . except a man eating his own head.

BTW, if you change ANYTHING on your own accord, that's called MODDING, as in MODIFYING from its original design. Sometimes aftermarket parts just don't fit, and you have to be creative to make it work.

There is an old saying - "When you find yourself in a hole, sometimes it's best to just STOP digging."

Give me a fucking break. How helpless are you? You broke some plastic rings trying to fit pickups that don't work, and you go post a whining tirade on the Internet about it? Cowboy up, whiny baby.

Not to mention, you had to send the pickups off to get uncovered? You could remove a couple screws? This is like the guy that buys a $10k bicycle and can't change a tire, then gets irate and calls the company in Italy and chews them out for putting "inferior" tires on his bike.
