Personally, my wood isn't as hard as it used to be, no matter how it's janked.


It figures Ebony would have more than twice as large a number as White Oak.

Absolutely shite!

Ask me how I know. Never mind, I'll tell you anyway. A customer of mine brings me all kinds of weird projects. He brings me this big slab of bamboo countertop material that he got from Home Depot, wants me to make a guitar out of it. I'm skeptical but I tell him I'll see what I can do. I cut out the body, and this shit is fucking awful. You don't get sawdust like you do from regular wood. You get millions of little needle like splinters everywhere. They stick in your skin if you go anywhere near them. I install a neck on the body and as soon as I put strings on and attempt to tune up it becomes quite obvious that the bamboo is nowhere near strong enough, and sure enough, the neck heel snaps right off. I ended up planing the body down to 3/8" and just using it as a top for a mahogany body.

That sounds like a nightmare, my bamboo interest has waned
