You can feel the heat off my 6xKT88 loaded herbert from like 2-3 feet away. This normal

Herbert gets HOT!! It even says in the manual that you shouldn't put anything on top of Herbert, because the top will get hot and that's "normal." I agree, it projects some serious heat! I have been using a pretty decent size fan on the back and that has helped a lot. It would have to turn it off for recording, but I don't do too much receording right now, so it's fine.
I guess all that power and all those tubes produce some serious TONE and some serious HEAT

Bias it to 40 mA each pair, it should help a bit.

before i had my Herbert, i used to put my beer on top of the amp during the gig. now i cant do that anymore, because the beer starts to cook.

you shouldnt be putting a beer on top your heads anyways. Thats what the bass players rig is for. LOL
and my Herbert gets hot enuff to make the lovely ladies sweat more than they alreay are..and make a fried egg sandwich!

Herbie = Expensive beer mat.......
With 4-6550's and 2-34's in mine, I don't notice it getting any hotter than normal.
Maybe Peter should think about a small fan in the Herbie like the Elmwood and Mesa's if they are getting that hot.
