Just curious. I play my guitar very low. Just below my gut. It gradually moved down there do to string breakage. I may be crazy though. How high or low do you set your strap?

for me it depends.
if i'm playing more technical metal that requires a lot of left hand movement and note precision, i tend to have my guitar higher above my stomach.
if i'm playing looser feeling, less technical rock/soloing stuff i tend to have the guitar around my stomach or a little bit lower.

Closer to the gut, but a tad higher. Lower and my right arm is too straight, higher and it's too bent. I like my 'elbow angle' right about 90〫.

A little lower than the gut.
I started at the knees and have gradually moved up over the past few years.
By the time I'm 40, it will probably be the necklace if the current trend continues.

nothing pisses me off more than when someone picks up my guitar and moves the strap. :gethim:

As far as the strap will go...I'm 6'5'' so usually its not far enough. :aww:

Over my belt buckle usually. I used to have it much higher, like a necktie but then I realised how terrible it looked and lowered it.

I am very anal when it comes to setting my guitar height. Once I get the exact spot I actually sew the strap to prevent it from moving.

I'm the same way, but I use gaffer's tape or duct tape.

I've found that with strat type guitars, I like the low E to be at the same height as my belly button, and with Les Paul type guitars I like it more at crotch height.

Mine varies depending on which guitar I'm playing because I like the neck position to be consistant.

Les Paul:Gut
Dean ML:Lower, upper gut showing
Mockingbird:Higher,lower gut showing

Over my belt buckle. I'd like it a bit lower but it's very difficult for me to do realy techinical stuff that low though. I can get by with the guitar around my belt buckle. I can't handle the guitar at the top of my chest. I can play great with it that high but I don't like the way it looks.

Yeah me too. I like it lower for 5 fret rythms but it gets harder for higher leads stuff

The top curve of my Les Pauls / PRS's exposes my junk...for da ladies :D

me too!

I have it high enough to "shred" but low enough to not look like a tool.

somewhere between Hetfield and Joe Perry/Joey Ramone. Fuck Korn. But yeah, I like it low. I used to buy bass straps and even had some custom-made longies...

A dude I know has a strap with elastic in it so he can raise it for accuracy or lower for brutality.

I spend almost all my time playing, seated... so my strap kind of reflects that. Not quite necklace, but higher than most.

I don't get how anyone can play w/ guitars as low as some folks have em... my hands would be killing me.

I used to set mine damn low in my metal band. My singer would always say that it looked gay when it was high. Well now that I'm growing up and developing as a player, I don't give a shit how gay my strap length is. I wear it just a bit lower than sitting down and playing height now, because it's way easier to play.
