My picking hand is usually right at the belt buckle. Any lower, and I'm slop city (compared to my normal sloppage). Any higher, and I feel like I'm playing scales...

I used to wear "necklace" but realized I was uncomfortable and wear it pretty damn low now.

Bottom of guitar rubbing my junk... of course.

The problem is I would like to have the strap longer for rhythm and higher for solo, so I either have to settle for somewhere in between those two or readjust the strap one hole. Putting one foot on a monitor and balancing the guitar on my leg is another option for solos, though.

Doesn't Buckethead have some sort of elastic suspension system? I wonder if that has a practical reason or is just a gimmick for freak-enhancing value.

nothing pisses me off more than when someone picks up my guitar and moves the strap. :gethim:

That's why I use the Dimarzio locking straps made ot of seat belt material. Once I have it set, I pull out the sewing machine and sew it in place.

Hey Dave, If I send you my strap can you sew it for me?

How low can you go???

I play mine high, as it lets me play faster and cleaner, and I guess that's more important than looking cool

AMEN BROTHER

It took me a long time to find that comfortable spot where it wasn't too high or too low.

This is about perfect for me...feels really natural.

Perfect for me too. I have to laugh at the guys who wear it very low...as if that made them cool somehow. Cool is wearing it where it's easiest to play. I've got a friend that always wore his guitar very, very low and he ended up having to have surgery to remove a painful calcium lump from his wrist. The lower you wear it the more you have to bend the wrist joint...no thanks.

Agreed...not worth it...plus you get the shoulder slouch and a mighty Mr. Burns hump when you're older. Have to remember your posture. :D

If your left elbow is much past a right angle it's uncomfortable (for me) and you're asking for problems down the road.

Mine's about here. I used to have it a little lower, but since I started playing slide 3 or 4 years ago I had to bring it up.

I have to wear mine above the crotch as I do not have very big hands.

For me, it's about right here, between the gut and crotch, a little more to the gut level:

Thanks, those are my Warmoth builds. Don't think I'll buy another name brand guitar ever again.

Long enough to notice a decrease in dexterity. Sucks, but its rock n roll, not a recital.
