VHII's are very bright as well, What guitar where they in? Another alternative would be a holydiver. If its a strat style guitar

I had them in my LP Standard.

Ah never heard a clip of them in a les paul Ceramic pickups and les pauls go together great Its like a steroid injection of low mids

I still have one of your old MK IVs

Been on a Marshall voiced kick but still enjoy the crap out of the lead channel, hoping it never has to go anywhere.

Mark III Simul-Class Blue Stripe owner here. I'll eventually get a Simul-Class IIC+ and probably a IV B.

Long time mark IVA owner here.

One thing I learned recently about my mark IV, is that I really prefer it into a closed back cab.

For those with the bass on 0, do you always run the amp with the graphic EQ. I generally keep my bass on 2-4, never over 5, but sometimes I feel like I have to have the EQ to get enough bass, depends on the guitar....

Yea i have the graphic eq on but the bass is a little over the middle line and bass at 0, Its the damn pauls falt i allways have plenty of bass though due to the port city cabs being ported they work flawlessly with mark series amps!

I love the Mark IV. I nver liked R2 but I use the lead channel for everything now that I've figured out a way to play with the levels
between rhythm and lead in a band setting.

As fara s Fortin gas, I like the Bones but I would need to get rid of my VHT to get one.

I have a Mark IV short head with two compact cabs...one open back with an EVM and a Thiele with a Delta Pro 12a.

I'm all alone here in that I like R2...especially with single coils! And I also thinks its a great hi gain sound boosted with my BB preamp. Less compressed than the Lead channel....

AWESOME!!! You've had that one for a while. I think that was my 2nd or 3rd one I owned. I can't remember how many it has been.

All I know is this: If you keep going back to something, keep it!!!!

R2 on my Mark IV sounds pretty good. Don't ask me how I have it dialed in though because I haven't the first clue.

I used to hate the R2, and gave it another chance with the latest IVA I picked up, I actually find it to sound pretty great boosted. It seems Mesa amps and the BB Preamp are a perfect match, I've never had any luck with any other pedals with the Mesa, and never had any luck with the BB preamp with any other amp. The BB into Ch. 1 or 2 gets pretty close to a Lonestar tone IMO, can easily get a nice Andy Timmon's tone out of those 2 channels with a BB Pre.

+1 Mark series boogies and BB preamps =

I use it on the lead channel and clean channel as a clean boost
Settings are :
Bass slighlty boosted - 1:00-1:30
Treb : Slightly rolled off for the Joe bonamassa thump to the leads - 10:30-11:00
Gain: All the way off
Volume: Same as bass

How are you running yours cyndicate ?

For a clean boost pretty much the same way you have yours, but Volume is usually at 3:00 or maxed out, and I just cut down the amp pre gain/drive to compensate.

However, sometimes I use it into the clean channel if I'm not using it as a clean boost just for some added dirt

For that I do
Bass: 1:00
Treb: Noon
Gain: 9: 00
Volume: Noon
