hound craigslist or check it on a fairly regular basis looking for killer deals?? have you ever gotten one??

I keep reading about people making these INSANE scores off of CL. Like one guy on another forum got an ibanez K7 for $200. i think they're like well over $1000 even used.

so, i book marked my local craigslist music instrument page and i've been checking it fairly regularly for the last 2 days and so far, nothing that cool. i'm in a big city so something cool should pop up eventually.

I go in spurts, craiglist is a huge mess of junk with some jewels mixed in sparingly. You have to be diligent.

+1

There are definitely deals to be had if you're patient. I scored my DSL 100 off of there for $600, which I thought was a pretty damn good deal. Not absolutely unreal, but good nonetheless.

Fort Wayne Craigslist

PeeVy Bandditt $750, needs speaker
CraIt GT60 combo $400, missing knobs
Mackie PA - $14,000, mixer won't power up

Living here in Lexington Ky, I get the impression that 10,000 guitarists went out three years ago and bought Marshall Valvestate amps, Squier guitars, and Zoom effects; each one thinking they can actually sell it for more than they bought it for.

I've sold more on Craigslist than I've bought.
Seems a lot of people think 10%-15% under new cost is a great used price.
There are deals, but very rare.

I look at it all the time, I see some pretty good deals, but I don't really need anything, but I keep looking anyway  ! Last thing I got was a Marshall AVT50 combo for I think $150 - I thought that was a pretty good deal.

I keep a pretty close eye on it. Bought some stuff. Sold more stuff. The fun part when you're selling is all of the ass-clown offers. I was offered (seriously) -
Joe Satriani autographed Ibanez RG170, Peavey Rage Combo, tuner, some walkman sized headphone amp

for

PRS Singlecut in my signature....

That is the only time I responed rudely to someone with something along the lines of "it will be a cold day in hell before I do that deal unless you include about $1200 cash (which was the asking price)"

If you have something specific in mind.....do a search a few times a day. About a year ago I decided I needed to have a Mesa 4x12....so I searched every day for a few weeks. In less than a month....I had a brand new slant/straight cab exactly like I wanted for a steal of a deal.

I picked up an Anderson Drop Top with a Floyd for $1200

Unless that guitar was dragged behind a car, that is a steal and a half!

Killer shape, and sounded great

I'm in L.A, so the CL pickings can be pretty great :D

I hound it all the time! I have scored some killer deals!

Hit or miss in Denver... There are a few decent deals, nothing outrageous. I'm getting kinda sick of the tire-kickers tho with my Budda. 2 e-mails of interested people, left them messages on their phones, and no response (e-mail or phone).

This happens to me quite a bit on CL. People say they will buy your item, then when it comes time to arrange a time to pick it up, they all of a sudden are nowhere to be found

The thing I would like to let people know on Columbus CL is...

Squires aren't Fenders, Epiphones aren't Gibsons, LTS's aren't ESP's, etc.

I hate looking at those "Gibson SG,red, pickups swapped. $175."

I found a San Dimas Charvel for $500 on there. I also scored a Mark III bluestripe combo for $450 and a bunch of those old cabs with the EVM's for next to nothing.

That is the $800 factory upcharge for the relic'c model

Lexicon MPX-1 for $250 mint
Yamaha SPX-90II for $65

LOts of equipment I had no interest in like a mint EB MM 5 string mint for $800.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^
this pretty much sums up my CL experience.

i really just detest getting the lowball offers for stuff. I listed a combo amp for $300 and some guy kept insisting that he'd give me $100 and come pick it up asap

i did however, help my friend get a Peavey Ultra Plus 120 head and matching Peavey 4x12 cabinet for $250 though. pretty killer deal, IMO.
