How much is a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Custom worth?

I'd be very cautious here. Anyone can do a search and in 2 seconds realize that a 1980 LP Custom can fetch $3,000 easily. Regardless of what anyone here thinks, that's what the market says people will pay. Is there a reason this guy wants to throw money away or is there something he's not saying about this guitar?

It's a 1990 LPC if that matters at all. There's no way a 1990 LPC is worth anything close to $3K. Those are ebay auctions that never sell or purchases by fools at over priced guitar shops. Something from 1980 could be different, but I'm not sure why.

Hell, I paid $2,300 for my 2002 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty 57 re-issue.

Anything from 1979-1980 will fetch some cash, Zakk Wylde helped it out when he said in several interviews that there was something special about those years for LPC's, of course just because he happened to have a 79 that he liked. You can easily get close to 3k for a good condition 1980 LPC.

EDIT. A never mind me, my fucking eyes are going. 1980----1990.

Besides better pictures, here is a few questions I would have for the seller.

How is the bridge pickup coil tapped? Is a push pull pot in there, and if so which one?
Does he have the original bridge pickup?
What is the weight?

Thanks. I plan to ask all that and see it in person on Friday.

Thats a good deal for sure. On a side note , I dont think theres anyway a 1980 or 1990 for that matter would fetch $3k . I think the OP is pretty derned close with his $1800 price guess. $3k is ridiculous

My ebony and chrome '82 didn't get near that..more like $2100. Market's pretty tough unless that '80 is a super mint silver burst or something.

The market sucks. I'm done buyin' and sellin' until it comes back. :hys:

UPDATE. I checked out the guitar yesterday and it is really sweet. Plays great and sounds great, really nice neck and color looks great in person. The banks were closed since it was a Sunday, so I met the guy today and brought her home!

Looking forward to playing tonight!

Oh, and no neck breaks, no holes drilled for the coil tap and no extra holes for the Sperzel tuners. Boo ya!
