I'm trying to sell the Artist 3203 head and the matching 1965a cab together locally but there's been a volume cut out issue with the head. The amp recently started having an issue with the Master Volume knob so as soon as it started happening, it was shut off until today. The overall Master Volume will be turned all the way down to Zero and then say for example your on the Clean Channel as soon as you start to turn up the channel volume you get volume and the same with the Overdrive Channel. Talked to some guys on here and they said to insert a patch cable from the FX loop send to return, I did that and the volume cut out issue stopped and I also noticed there was a scratchiness sound on both the send and the return, this was fixed back in 2007 but looks like it's happening again, was told from other Artist 3203 owners on the forum it's a common issue with these amps. When it was serviced in 2007, on the Work Order they put: No Output, replaced blown output transformer, It was a Marshall JCM900 4500 transformer they used, replaced both EL34 tubes and 12AX7 tube, moddified a Peavey 2 button footswitch to work with the amp, resoldered numerous connections on PC Board (cracked, loose), reassembled and tested 30 watts RMS.

Now that I've narrowed it down to the Effects Loop issue what should I ask for the Head with the original footswitch and Peavey 2 button footswitch that was modded to work with the amp and power cable and what should I ask for the stock 1965a 4x10 cab?

does the power amp section work right on its own? keep it for a slave..

They don't bring much...you'll probably be lucky to get $300 for the head since its in need of repair. Have you check the completed auctions on ebay?

I've thought about that too, there's a guy selling an ENGL e530 tube preamp on here, was wondering how that would sound for modern metal?

I already sold another amp, a line 6 flextone 2 head & floorboard and some other music gear, and now I'm selling the artist half stack to get a peavey 5150 II head

About five years ago I sold my 3203 Combo on Ebay. It closed at 560.

Ok thank you. My main amp head has been the one you see in my Sig but I want to keep it for backup just because it's one of a kind cause of the conversion my brother-in-law did. Thats why I was looking into getting a 5150 II cause of the reliability and also the sound too for modern metal but I also love the Marshall sound too! Lord Toneking has a Splawn Quickrod that I've played thru before and I absolutely love it!! Unless someone on here has a Splawn Quickrod for a decent price, I might go for that too

I don't think you will have trouble selling the 1965A cab, a number of fans out the 1965 and 1966 Marshall cabs.

The Artist 3203 not working is going to be a tough sell, maybe $200-250? just guessing.
