Wow!! I just turned my bass and treble to 10 and my mids to 0 and all of a sudden I felt the power in my fingers and played the solo to trapped under ice, master if puppets and hit the lights one after another. That guys a prolific teacher. I thought Kirk was crawling out my rig.

Sounds like the movie 'The Grudge". :D
Wait, isn't it The Ring with the chick crawling out of shit? Oh well, same movie almost.

Did you turn your distortion to 10 ..... that sounded like it was important to getting the sound ?

I enjoyed it so much I added it to my signature.

I think this guys video is slated for 12 year old kids..........
But I could be wrong.
Maybe I should give it shot!

So that is the reason I could never play "Fight fire with Fire....."
I WAS ON THE NECK PICKUP!!
:hys:

To get Kirks tone you gotta get yourself some really nasally high-end cones for your cabinet, then turn your treble knob all the way up, hit the wah pedal and rock the pedal all the into forward postion, and just leave it there. It is also imperative to use the bridge pick-up at all times.

F'in beautiful!!! :D

This guy is local to me....Amazing acoustic/classical player....clueless on ANY tone related ANYTHING.

  I spat soda at the screen , im sure he's a nice guy. Just funny as shit!

Wow - the way the guy states it - it sounds like it is so matter-of-fact, but so wrong

How about just advising to turn up the bass / treble until there is a good amount of lows and highs but too not woofy or icepicky sounding, then start turning down the mids until the sound really smooths out? Oh well...

wow..all you need is a guitar and an amp! So obvious that I've been overlooking it all these years!!!

Sounds like the guy I jammed with a couple of weeks ago is getting tone tips here!

Dime the treble and gain, scoop the mids. Gotta love a stack of bees!

Is he serious or is he just making a joke of Metallica's tone? I guess metal guitar tones may sound this way to someone who, as mentioned earlier, is a classical/acoustic player!

And make sure your vibrato sounds like a nervous 12 year old, make sure when you bend a note you bend it just flat or sharp of the intended tone, and make it seem like even though you've been playing guitar for a living for close to 30 years that your chops sound like you just started playing last week. :D

I am turning over a new leaf and will NEVER bust Hammet's balls again as he may be one of the smartest and most business savy people in the business.

Look at it........10-11 sig guitars, does not practice or care really about his chops as he just lives for the road and selling stuff. That guy Monte Jay is so in love with him and metalli$$$a that he went broke following them and had nowhere to sleep. People with not alot of money are throwing it at him and we make fun of him?????

The laugh is not on him

I've never really had a problem with kirks sound with the exception of his wah abuse, which I still wouldn't really mind if he didn't do it in 7 out of 10 songs :dunno: . I wonder where all the Kirk haters come from sometimes though, the guys played some great solos throughout his career for arguably the greatest metal band in history. I have a hard time buying that everyone thinks his chops are that bad, I just saw metallica in concert about 6-8 months ago and his tone and playing sounded pretty damn good to me. The only thing that sucked was he had wahs all over the stage and he was just running around and stepping on them everywhere   Out of about 10-15 songs they played, they were maybe only 2-3 of the solos where he wasn't standing on a wah or running to get to one. Just to keep the air clear, I'm not a huge Kirk lover or anything like that, but I am what seems like one of the few left that aren't offended by his guitar skills. He's definitely got me beat
