Michael Owns!!

Totally. He is a very nice guy, with a big pot belly :D
The Pot belly is mandatory for an amazing producer :D
It's caused by long hours in the studio with only fast food being delivered throughout the day/night :D

Yeah that Crane Hedd thing sounds killer! I got excited about that. Then I looked up the price. $3495!! ??????? :gethim:

I'm having trouble with the site. It takes forever just to get to the root site let alone the video...anyone else?

Anyone know why he's recording stereo? He's using the same mic,mic position, and preamp(with slightly different settings). I have a Royer 121 and Great River Preamp, but to double them is another $2k then $3.5k more for the HEDD. Has anyone tried this type of setup, minus the HEDD?

He said there are two different types of speakers in the cab that he is miking.

Sorry I must have missed that part. Thanks

Yeah... when he engaged that thing it was like some kind of super-fat switch. Sounded awesome.
FWIW, this video made me try a tape-saturation plug-in that I have. While it's not as good as the HEDD, it made a dramatic improvement similar to what you heard in the video. Made the tone huge and fat.

Michael's one of my friends and co-moderates with me at gearslutz.com. He does master classes at his studio in Nashville a few times a year if anyone wants to work first hand with him, go to his site, wireworld at http://www.michaelwagener.com/

He's a great guys, here's a pic of him at Vocal Asylum, scroll down:

The TG 121/57 thing is big over at gearslutz. I'm personally more of a 421/57 - Neve/API guy but the 121/57 thing gets great results. The ribbon is fuller and the 57 is more focused mids.

Good to see Michael making some noise over here, he got me hooked on sushi.
