I have a Ibanez rga121 that I wanted to sand down the body and stain it and was wondering how to fix the dent in it. Since it is going to be stained and not painted, is there some sort of filler to use that won't look bad under the stain? Any ideas appreciated.

Take a steamer or an extremely hot wet rag and place it on there. You might get lucky and it could swell out. If you refinish it I would sand it down and save the saw dust and mix it with wood glue and fill it. I would not trust that to wood filler personally.

A sharpie and a tall glass of the first one hurts the most.

Seriously though sand it down and use wood shaving dust and wood glue to build up the body edge. You may have to play with stains as the glue could cause a color shift.

For those not staining, sand and wood filler followed by primer, paint 3 coats of color, wet sand the color to a mirror shine (google is your friend for this step) and then 4 coats of clear followed by more wet sanding. You may also want to look into a technique called feathering where you sand less coats as you go outward to allow better blending of the paint and clearcoat.

Dude, you need to get with the times. That is not dented. It is "naturally reliced".

Try steaming it to see if it least reform most of its shape then try whatever method to fix the dents ie wood fill or finishing drop fills... etc...

You might have some luck with some pore filler, especially if the steaming methods above work
