I am really interested in the Hughes and Kettner Triamp MK2 and I was wondering if any of the other models, such as the the Trilogy, have the same high gain mesa sound found in channel 3B on the Triamp. I honestly am mostly interested in that 3B channel and wondering how their other cheaper models compare for their high gain channel. I know the Duotone is based off of channels 1a and 3a (I wanted 3b lol) but what about the Trilogy, Coreblade, ect....?

Trilogy Ultra channel is extremely similar to TriAmp MK II channel 3B, Trilogy Lead similar to TriAmp 3A, Trilogy Crunch like TriAmp 2A, Trilogy Crunch with Boost like TriAmp 2B. Trilogy is an awesome and extremely underrated amp. VERY particular about which speakers are used.

If I ever get some spare time I'll do an A/B comparison video.

Watch the used market for one as well. You can get one for a much lower cost than new.

I really like both 3A and 3B. To my ears the two channels sound very similar, and I could get 3A to sound like 3B by turning the gain up. And for whatever reason, I spent more time on 3A than 3B. One of my favorite channels ended up being 2B, so don't overlook that one.

Thanks for the replies. A comparison video would be nice, but it still might be hard considering that the music and guitars I play might bring out a different tonal character in the Triamp over the Trilogy. I imagine both will suit my needs, but I originally got interested in the Triamp MKii because the band Red (heavy warm/smooth rhythm and dropped tuned) used them to record. I have a Mesa Dual Recto and was looking for an expansion of that tone; something that would mix similarly and have that that thickness, but bring out a little something of its own character. I could opt for the Mki for a cheaper price but if the Trilogy really sounds as good for the channel I really want (3B), that will be my choice because of the LED lights and better appearance/simplicity haha.
