What hum canceling single coil sized neck pickup will be fluid with high gain shred but also do the stratty neck pickup tone?

I have a Dimarzio Cruiser (bridge, which is also good in neck position ala Andy Timmons) which is a nice cross between single and humbucker. Dimarzio Injector should also be nice, I have one but am still waiting for a Warmoth neck to arrive to try it out in my relic project.

The answer will of course depend of music style, amp, wood, other pickup, etc.
The Dimarzio Pickup Picker is a nice tool for that
Can't really help with other brands, as I haven't had much experience with them

Edit: damn, I just got beat to the punch

I use Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues and Injectors at the bridge position.
However, at the neck slot I use stock Fenders for the most part. They sound great clean and slay with high gain. Whatever they put in the American Standards.
The only reason I have Duncan Quarter Pounders in a couple Strats is because the Aldrich and Super Distortion are so loud. I prefer the tone of the stock Fenders.

I have stock fender noiseless in my strat right
Now and they sound pretty good with high gain,
Bill Lawrence twin blade pups sounded great as well
As the area series from Dimarzio I think it was the area
'62 (I traded the pick guard for some EMG's )
Duncan stuff is great to. Start with dimarzio and head west!

Kinman.

I love the 69 neck.
His adjusted string spacing also makes a huge difference.

This
Most of the other recommendations lack for truly clean "Stratty" tones...this one does not.

Dimarzio HS2. Worked for YJM for all of those years...

Edit: It may not be the most "stratty" sounding pup, but I think it'll be close enough for you Jim

Got a lot of recommendations for DiMarzio stuff. I dig the DiMarzio VV Blues I have in my strat. What about pickups from the Seymour Duncan camp? I guess the Kinman mentioned above is hum cancelling? Heard great stuff about those pickups.

I would look for a minihumbucker and have a push pull to switch it from series to parallel wiring. The SD hot rails or cool rails should work.

My hot rails in my strat brigde, sounds very good with the coils in parallel mode, like a fat single coil.

If you want to sick with single coils, I like the Bill lawerence L280s, but I am not sure they will do what you want for shredding.

I dig the Dimarzios too but they lack the true single coil spank that the Kinman (which is hum cancelling) has, as well as those "quacky" clean tones on the 2&4 positions. They sound great, but not as good as the Kinman.

The 69 is my fave single coil, noiseless or not.

I like a neck single to retain some bite ( humbuckers are simply too smooth in the neck ) and the 69 is his best all rounder.

I have Suhr singles, and a few other Kinmans and the 69 is his crown jewel.

Does it have enough output to keep up with a hot bridge humbucker?

I would say that it does, but you're getting to "touchy" area. Are you more concerned with the ability to hang with a "hot" bridge humbucker (how hot?), or do you want the tonal benefits from your original post? There comes a point, depending on just how hot/loud the bridge pickup is, that you simply can't have it all.

Like maybe a SD Distortion?

Jim, to be honest your playing ability and technique would make up for the output of a neck single coil. You are that good of a player. If the question is more around overall balance between the neck and bridge then there has been lots of good info here. The Kinman pickups sound great.

Thanks Chad. Just asking around. God willing I might be close to getting a new axe ordred and wanted to gather some info on neck pickups.
