I need to get some more cables to properly hook this up. Anyone got some tips/tricks they'd like to share?

What power amp are you using ?

Running it through my Mark III at the moment via the 4 cable method. I eventually want to run it direct into my interface and use it for recording/running direct, but I need some MIDI cables.

Killer rig dude  I was thinking very hard about picking up an Axe-Fx but a fellow member on here told me it took him between 50-60 hours of tweaking before he really felt comfortable with it and could get decent tones, which I don't really mind I guess, just not really practical for me right now  . I'm still kind of on the Fence about getting one though, let us know how it goes man

Took me all of maybe 10 minutes to get a decent tone with the TS boost, Recto Red model and 4x12 German cab. The thing that'll drive you crazy is the constant, "But maybe I can make it better if I adjust this..." feeling.

  Caught me right in the middle of editing. Yeah I could definitely see that driving me nuts, I like to set it and forget it  Still would be cool from a versatility standpoint though if it sounds as good as everyone makes it out to sound :scared:

Isn't this what you used on your last clip?

The Blue Water Blue Sky clip? I used the Mark III and Rackto quad tracked with Mark III leads. I jut got the Axe-Fx today. This was my old rig:

Oh nvm, that may have been someone else lol. BTW, nice MosValve, that a power amp? I have the Tube Driver head. They make decent stuff.

The MosValve was a gift from Pete Laramee on this forum. He used it as a backup for the longest time and graciously gave it to me. It's now part of my backup rig. When I use it, it's mainly for something like W/D.

apparently you didn't download the "more realest tears yet" patch approved by rusty cooley.

left a smokey chocolate flavor in my mouth.

and salty tears.....

don't buy the axe-fx hype,

just buy it if all the info about it makes sense to become an owner of one. i fall into that category.

I've actually had a standard for about 10 days now. There's things i like about it and things i don't, I'm still not sure if I'll hang onto it or not. One thing though, i am tweaking more than I'm playing. I like the effects but i hate tweaking them. I prefer to twist knobs on my Timeline when i want a different delay happening. As far as the amp sim tones i think they're pretty good and a lot better than any modeling I've ever heard. But they're not the real amps they're trying to be and some of them fall short of what they're trying to sound like, see IIC+ sim. I also do notice the "sameness" in sound that's underlying in all the sims. But it would be a problem if the sameness sounded bad, i think all the sims sound pretty good.

I actually just took the Axe-Fx out of my rig and moved it to my desk. I much prefer sitting at my computer to tweak it rather than kneeling down and dicking with all the buttons. That said, I need to send it back or service it. There was glue residue on the screen from the little clear sticker, and soap + water wouldn't clean it off. I thought I'd clean it with some Goof Off. Big mistake. The Goof Off started to eat away at the acrylic, and the screen is all hazy. I recently emailed Fractal in seeing what I can do about it and am currently waiting as to see what option(s) I have. Kinda sucks that I messed up a $2k piece of gear within 12 hours of owning the thing. :(

Sounds like it should be an easy fix though. Let me know how close the Recto Sim is since you have a Recto in the room. It's one of the sims i thought sounded close to what i remember a Recto sounding like when i tried one. I also found the XTC blue sim was pretty close.

Oh man you smoked the display after 12 hours?!?!?!?!?!?

Congrats anyways and hope you can get a new display window.
