Oh man you smoked the display after 12 hours?!?!?!?!?!?

Congrats anyways and hope you can get a new display window.

They suggested running a propane torch over the display quickly on low heat to help polish it. That didn't work, nor did the plastic polish I use to restore headlights. Here's a quick picture of it. The LCD screen is fine. It's just the acrylic that's messed up:

Embarrassing to say the least.

Does the screen feel sticky when you run your finger over it? If so it could just be sludged on residue and not the acrylic. If that is the case I would try a degreaser or strong acid.

That sucks. I still have the plastic protection thing on my screen - never pulled it off in case I was gonna sell it - but it's been 4 months and I've sold other amps in favor the axe - so I guess it's save to remove now. I guess I need to be carefull about it.

It originally felt sticky from the sticker residue. Once I put Goof Off on it, it literally ate the acrylic. Fractal gave me an RMA, so I'm returning it to get it fixed. $50 mistake, so keep that in mind guys.

Ouch, sorry to hear that bro. I'd say mojo sent, but it seems danyeo already has that covered

Goof off is some good shit, but you learn pretty quick to be careful with it. It can make your day or ruin it.

What power amp are you using ?

Running it through my Mark III at the moment via the 4 cable method. I eventually want to run it direct into my interface and use it for recording/running direct, but I need some MIDI cables.
I thought maybe you'd use that POS Mosvalve.

Congrats on snax.

however, removing the excess by polishing your fretless was a masterstroke idea.

I actually just took the Axe-Fx out of my rig and moved it to my desk. I much prefer sitting at my computer to tweak it rather than kneeling down and dicking with all the buttons. That said, I need to send it back or service it. There was glue residue on the screen from the little clear sticker, and soap + water wouldn't clean it off. I thought I'd clean it with some Goof Off. Big mistake. The Goof Off started to eat away at the acrylic, and the screen is all hazy. I recently emailed Fractal in seeing what I can do about it and am currently waiting as to see what option(s) I have. Kinda sucks that I messed up a $2k piece of gear within 12 hours of owning the thing. :(

That sucks man. I ran into that with Goof Off as well, but mine was a much much much cheaper mistake. I used it to clean off the labels on the clear plastic parts drawers. It made them all cloudy, just like what you are describing. Goo Gone is safer on clear plastics....

Killer rig dude  I was thinking very hard about picking up an Axe-Fx but a fellow member on here told me it took him between 50-60 hours of tweaking before he really felt comfortable with it and could get decent tones, which I don't really mind I guess, just not really practical for me right now

That type of tweaking would make me want to chew on a gun barrel.
