Well I bought the thing. But it still has an issue with channel 3, the bass and mid controls don't do anything but the other channels work fine. I was able to get it cheap, for a new multi watt Triple I couldn't pass it up. I have it on a Bogner 4x12 and boosted it with a Bad Monkey and needless to say it sounds fucking killer! I'm going to just laugh at those who trash Recto's from now on, I was one of those poeple  For heavy stuff this thing is IT.

So...any ideas about channel 3 before I take it to a tech? I moved the preamp tubes around and reseated them but no dice.

I am surprised but glad you found a cool amp.

Try reaching out to Mike B. Perhaps he can help diagnose the issue. Would love to hear a clip of you playing through a Recto.

I have it on a Bogner 4x12 and that cab just sounds sweet and the amp can be tweaked to sound good for a lot of styles. Sure it won't do VH tones but I don't care much about sounding like VH, even though I like that tone a lot. The Bad Monkey tightens it up even more.
When you get the lead channel up and running...try this setting.
Run the gain barely on...about 2-3. Then hit it with a clean boost and try a GE7 EQ pedal in the loop with delay.
Man....It sounds REALLY REALLY close to the EVH tone. We do Panama and it blends so good its scary how close it sounds.

Is this multi-watt Recto the same thing as the 'reborn' series ?

Yup.

I have a non-multiwatt 3-channel Triple (need a shorter way to say that... 3Ch MKI?) and it sounds the same to me as the multiwatt Triple, other than the multiwatt's 50 watt mode, obviously. Both were significantly brighter and more "alive" than the Roadster, IMHO.

I A/B'd the Multi triple I bought and a regualr 3 channel dual and I thought they were similiar. maybe the Multi was slightly brighter. But I got the Multi triple for such a good price I couldn't pass it up.

Yeah, the multiwatts are awesome. Congrats on the amp! Hope you get it all sorted out. I was literally about to buy one from GC too, but checked CL and saw a non-multiwatt Triple for an absolutely silly price and had to go with that. Triple is going to be a bit brighter than a Dual no matter what, IME.

Hmmm, I thought the point of the reborn series was an intentional revoicing over the non-multiwatt 3 channel ones :

"On the eve of its 20th Birthday, with still the widest, deepest footprint in heavy music and now a long list of chart topping devotees outside the world of heavy, the Recto has been re-worked, re-tuned and refined again.

Now with our patented Multi-Watt™ Channel Selectable Power, an Improved Effects Loop, Channel Assignable Rectifier Choices with RECTIFIER TRACKING™, a TUNER OUT jack with SILENT TUNE feature and an all new Footswitch, the new Dual and Triple are more menacing than ever.
But what’s really got us excited isn’t all the new features you can see on the Front and Rear Panel. Those are great and really useful, but we’re jacked on the NEW TONE!

We’ve unearthed a lot of secrets in the last two decades and we’ve used them all in this new rendering. Improved CLEAN and PUSHED in Channel 1 – a more soulful, earthiness in RAW, thicker layers of harmonics and more liquid gain in VINTAGE and tighter gut-punching attack in MODERN in Channels 2 and 3.

Play the new Dual and Triple Rectifiers® at a Dealer near you and feel for yourself the incredible sonic power of these modern day classics… now even better than the originals."

Nah, there is hardly a difference in voicing between the original 3 channels and reborns. I had them side by side and the newer ones are a bit brighter with the controls in the same positions. Even called Mesa when they were released and they told me they're almost identical.

What I want to know is if they really improved the fx loop!! The shitty loop is the reason I went to a Mark IV. On the official Mesa demo they say the loop is series during the demo but then at the end they say it's parallel.

I've been told its series on this board and then read that it's just a slightly "improved" parallel loop. Danyeo, let me know how the loop works out please!

The RK2 is still the best rectifier I've played. Running 6L6 and EL34s together sounds sooo friggin good, the RK cabs are great and the loop is good. Awesome amps!

Quoted for truth about the RKII. Does everything, does everything well and when all those tubes are together the level of AWESOME is beyond measure!

I'll never be w/o mine.

According to the manual is series. I thought they were done with parallel loops as of a few years ago.

I just picked one up last weekend. The Modern setting is pretty terrible still. Vintage is useable so far.

I now know the endtimes are upon us!

I have a dual rec and I agree the modern setting doesn't do it for me either.
