I am disappointed

I would personally keep the 4 conductor. Even if you don't use them, incase you ever decide to move the pickups, I believe 4 conductor models have better resale, due to their additional wiring options.

Looks like you already made up your mind though. Other than a longer lead time than promised, I've always had good dealings with Nick at the Axe Palace.

Good luck,

Eric

I called all the BKP dealers in the US, looking for a set of Black Dogs. But nobody had any.

Hypothetically, when initially searching for them, if Axe Palace had the four conductor Black Dogs in stock, without having to special order again from BKP, would you have bought them?

If your answer is NO, then send them back to Axe Palace, and order them from BKP.

My answer is no. There were a few places that had four conductor. But I wanted two. I will be returning them and buying through Bare Knuckle, directly.
Your control cavity will love you for this

Axe Palace's first response was how four conductor will work just as well as two conductor. And that it's not their fault, blah blah blah. The point is, I am the customer. I paid for a made-to-order, custom product that did not come the way I ordered it.

Am I being unreasonable about the hookup wire mixup? Nick at Axe Palace is urging me to me just keep the four conductor version.
IMO, no you are not being unreasonable at all. but i'm old school--"the customer is always right." :D i don't care whose fault it was. i want shit the way i want it, and if people aren't paying attention and don't get it right, then i get pissed too.

if i were Axe Palace, the way i would handle it is first apologize (it's amazing how far a simple apology goes to make people feel better, and how few people are willing to offer it), then leave the choice to you whether to keep the 4-conductor or get the 2-conductor that you wanted, and if you kept the 4, i'd offer you a gift certificate or free something as trying to make it up to you.

but if i were you, i would not just keep the 4 and shut up and like it. that's not what you ordered; you should not have to take it unless you decide you want to.

I'm just curious as to why people are so quick to slag the Axe Palace on forums before the entire transaction is completed? This has happened a few times in the last few months on a few different forums? I get it. Customer service in general can be a bitch sometimes. People make mistakes. It doesn't mean I'm going to try to damage their business(intentionally or unintentionally) by making posts online just because mistakes happened. I wouldn't consider a mistake like this to be in the realm of Guitar Center style bad customer service. Hell, I just ordered a t-shirt from Kohl's and got the wrong team. I called them, they re-ordered it, and low and behold, I got the wrong team again. Shit happens. You have the same chance of getting a screwed up order at your favorite local guitar shop, unless you are watching over the person while they place the order.

I have probably ordered 8 sets of BKP's from Nick and one used guitar and haven't had an issue, then again I haven't ordered anything in the last 1.5 years. His business seems like it has expanded quite a bit since then.

All being said, I would just let the 4 conductor thing slide and maybe try to get him to knock off a few bucks. It's not like you ordered nickel covers and he sent you aged or raw nickel.

Bullshit. If the company goofed the order, they are obligated to make it right. Letting something slide, when one was particular in the first place, is being a push over. Simple as that. Yes, the 4-conductor will work the same. But the point is, a customer worked their ass off to pay good money for something they really care about. There, in my opinion, there is no letting it slide. Thats a wad of cash. Takes some people time to make it.

This is all saying that what has been stated about the situation is sound.

The transaction IS finished. I paid for a specific product. I got the wrong thing. I contacted Axe Palace, they tried to fix it. Again, I got the wrong thing.

SIX WEEKS. TWO ORDER MIXUPS.

That is why I have posted this here. I held off on posting the first time my order was screwed up. But a SECOND time? You expect me to take it in the ass? Maybe that's how you do business. But not me. The pickups are going back. I am ordering direct through BKP. End of story. I was in no way "quick to slag Axe Palace." I think six weeks is an acceptable amount of time to wait before posting about a transaction-gone-wrong. :)

just get the damn 4 conductor things wired and tell us how awesome they sound

Returned 'em already. :)

I ordered a set of Black Dogs direct from BKP. Two days later and they've shipped out to me already. :) Took two-three weeks for Axe Palace to get the same results. I wonder why...

FWIW, I sent Tim an email last night about outfitting yet another guitar of mine. The email reply was there waiting for me this morning - BOOM - customer service!

Who's got the best prices on BKP's anyway?
Who cares? Just order direct from BKP and therefore, no hassles, no bullshit.

Gimp sleeping, Zed.
Well, I guess you're gonna have to go wake him up now, won't you?

I think 46&2 has made it clear he wants the 2 conductor. Customer's always right.

Then again, if EVER you wanted to coil tap.... Well, nevermind.

BKP rules. I've got another set coming. To the OP, the BlackDogs are INCREDIBLE pups. Hope you love 'em as much as I love mine.

Cheers Men,
Mo

Yeah, I have no desire to coil tap. :)

I'll post a review of the Black Dogs when I get 'em.
