All I have ever owned are tube amps. I guess I am just bored.

I like the idea of every amp and FX ever made. I don't like the idea of having to buy some powered speaker cab.
It could be really interesting to use this live. Assuming I can figure out how it works. Me no like menus.

Do I go for it or not?

You can get them for like 700 on fb marketplace which is an absolute steal

buy a used one you wont lose on resale
put in through effects return loop in one of your amps
will be easy to use that way

Don’t come on here asking us if you should buy gear or not. The likelihood of one of us saying no is about the same as handing an alcoholic a bottle of whiskey and expecting them not to drink it. So what I’m trying to say is- why so no when it feels so good to say yes…GET IT!!! NO REGERTS!!!

So I should buy a new tube amp with an FX loop then? Good idea.

I’ve got an Axe FX3 and a QuadCortex, for a couple of years now. The Axe FX3 sits unused. I’d think it would be the same with the FM3. The reason for me are:
- the QC is a whole lot more convenient and quick to use
- both sound good, but the QC sounds and feels a little bit nicer to play

I’m using both through the line in with either my Boss TAE or Fryette PS2. This works great. (Edit: TAE and PS2 both go into the 4x12 guitar cabs)

Yes fucking sir

I have flirted with the fm3 also. I think it would be great.

That said, I am often confused with my very simple setup. I could see me one day not having a clue how to get the fm3 to make sound

You could get and and cab and save yourself from
1. Go to bed stoked. Best tone you've ever laid ears on
2. Wake up, listen to tone. "Fuck that actually sucks"
1. Go to bed stoked. Best tone you've ever.......
2. Repeat

FM3 can be used in so many ways, I think it’s a good choice. But…

I've owned the FM3, Quad Cortex, and all the amp sim plugins you can imagine.

I really liked the FM3. It sounds good. I like the desktop editor, which you will need because navigating with the buttons and small screen are a nightmare. Cons are they are quite tweakable and I spent MUCH more time trying to dial in sounds than actually playing. Rock solid build quality.

The Quad Cortex also sounds good, but the touchscreen and general layout make it quicker and less tweaky to get to where you're trying to go. Feels more flimsy than the FM3. Works well as an interface, D/A conversion sounded better than my UAD Apollo I was using at the time.

The desktop plugins (Neural DSP) sound the best to me and are even quicker to dial in. So unless you want to take this on the go, I prefer the plugins.

I'll still take a tube amp all day over any of those three, but the convenience factor, especially for recording and ESPECIALLY with the desktop plugins, can't be underestimated.

With me here is high.

I hate modeling gear, IR's, and any other crap with menus and soff-touch buttons on it. Screens are for letting the breeze, not my effects.
I almost mentioned that you would be the one to say no…lol

If you don't like menus, then you would probably get frustrated with it.
Menus are for waffle house, not my guitar tone.

My lone hatred for modeling gear makes up for all the guys here who simp for that stuff all the time. I don't mean to cause any offense ok maybe I do but that is gear designed for men with soft hands.

Modelers suck. But they do have their place. Say I’m noodling or practicing in my den and it’s summer +34C degrees inside. I don’t need a nice toasty 100W tube amp for this, I’m happy with a QC and a TAE so I’m don’t sweat more than I have to.

I thought itd be fun but I just always ended up fussing with it instead of playing.
