I am so stoked!!!! Back in 1998, I graduated college. My first big guitar purchase was a Fender American Fat Strat Deluxe in teal green. I loved that guitar and played it on countless gigs. In true ding dong fashion, I sold it. Over the years, I wanted to purchase another but they have skyrocketed in price. They normally go from $1200 and up on Reverb and eBay. I was looking around online this morning and came across this guitar at a fantastic price. I purchased it for less than $1000 out the door after shipping/taxes.
I got it last night and I immediately noticed a gouge in the fretboard. Part of the lacquer is chipped away. The store is giving me a partial refund to get it fixed. Also, the fretboard itself was insanely dirty but a little tlc helped clean things up nicely.
I spent time with it after dinner tonight. Man, this thing has some mojo. The neck pickup sounds how a strat neck pickup should and the bridge just screams. The guitar fights a little bit. Especially when compared to my suhr modern or EVH Wolfgang, but that’s part of its vibe.
