I really don't care for the wild FX, never did with amps and don't intend to with the Axe. I just want it smoking through the FOH and quieten the stage clutter and ambient crud. I am damn sure not on a mission to prove "is it the Axe FX or the real thing". Not really that anal about it. Just a few models that appeal to me and change seamlessly without much stomping. That's what I am after. The bonus will be not to haul around and set up a bunch of stuff.

YES!! I don't know about the Kemper, never had one, however the Axe will allow you to try ANY patch that is made and download it directly.

I agree about the link above, check it out. He has gotten REALLY close on some tones that might just blow your skirt up a bit.

Yup. There should also be a preset exchange system implemented in the editor, I don't know if it's done yet.

Fremen's presets are usually very good, a good base for understanding the Axe. But personally I've never used someone else presets, there are way too much external criterias : the guitar, the amplifier, the speaker. Run a frfr designed preset in the return of your amp, well, it'll suck. It's easier to make your very own preset.

The options are tempting. Run a recto or Marshall for riffing, switch to a Mark series for a lead, a blackface for an intro.

If somebody great like Petrucci used one, now that would be a game changer...

Never heard anyone play one that I considered to have good or great tone. On the contrary, it just made the player's ability and sound deteriorate before my ears. Vai used it in a show I was at last week and his tone was meh. I understand for some who want to keep it simple and clutter free where tone is not king, are attached to them. Sad thing. Just make sure you do not get much sand inside it so you can sell it at full value. Let the begin.
