Crotchboy is a basic unhinged envious muppet munter.

National parks and Nat parks service is so fucked up. I spent about a month doing a road trip this summer. Every single Natpark and monument was at least 30 bucks, most were a bit more, some up around 50+ when other fees tacked on. Some little monument that is a couple Native American ruins in the middle of nowhere, a small parking lot you need an ATV to drive in, 30 bucks. Every campsite road really required at least 4WD and every campsite was at least 30 bucks, all the toilets required a hazmat suit to be in, almost all of the campsites in Colorado were closed because they were throwing a hissy fit over DOGE. It's like...why are you closing them, you guys don't actually DO ANYTHING. Handing out pamphlets about some random Native American ruin isn't a job. There could just be a little kiosk doing that...but that's what tons of these Natpark workers do all day.

They get 8 billion dollars a year for what? All the roads are shit, all the facilities are shit, they charge a bunch of money even on top of the parks being 'national/public' even though they don't do anything. 50 bucks to drive your car through some natural areas? 50 bucks gets you a day at some private outdoor park that has ziplines, restaurants, alpine slides, etc. A lot of them don't even have a guy manning a ticket booth and you have to buy tickets online through some shitty government app that doesn't even work, in places that don't have cell service.

Come out to Massachusetts bro. We have the Trustees of Reservations here that are a non profit who takes care of many state owned landmarks that the state does not maintain.
Not all the sites are free but most are. I spent a few summers gardening at Naumkeag which was pretty dope.

Meh. It's just annoying how the US Government basically lays claim to the most amazing places in the country and then uses them as a way to make money. Just sort of perfectly illustrates how our government is much more of a corporation than a "Government."
What do they need so much money and fees for if they aren't maintaining roads or restrooms.
People made fun of Trump for saying that foreigners should pay more to access these places but it makes a lot of sense imo if they are somehow under funding themselves with 7-8 billion in funds per year, when that comes from taxes of the citizens and these places are meant for US citizens, if other people visiting want to visit that's great, but they should have to pay more and US taxpayers less.
