I have an apogee duet and like it very much. I'd look at the Apogee one as well.
Yep I have one also. Sold my 11Rack for it and really glad I did. My kid uses it for vocals and I run my guitar straight in or through the axe. Now I just have to learn how to play

It is a battle, let me tell you. Once you get all your stuff intact, then comes the actual process of recording amps. That is a pain. Trying to get the amp to sound good, distorted, while it passes through your microphone. Yikes, it is such a pain in the ass. I have been messing with recording for just under a month, total, and am finding it to be quite the pain. Something always seems to sound "off."

Tell me about it. I could write the book about not being satisfied with recorded guitar sounds, and I've been doing it for more like two years. It only gets worse with time my friend.

The guys over at ProGuitarShop.com say that buying a Royer 121 makes the battle a lot easier. I tend to trust them, but I can't justify buying one of those mics right now, especially considering there is no return policy on mics. I have so many other things I'd like that kind of money to go towards -- like a guitar model that I don't own, pedals, theremin, a Port City 212, etc.

If two years from now I still am having trouble recording mic'd distortion, I will be quite disheartened to say the least. Good to know I'm not alone!

Goose, Cascade makes a ribbon mic called the Fathead, and in a blind comparison on heavy guitar sounds, I preferred it to the Royer at a fraction of the price

Cool, thanks for the heads up Jake. By the way, it just dawned on me that you have a photo of Jeff Goldblum. Is he really a guitarist? He looks like a bohemian angel sent from heaven in your pic. It's hilarious. I hope it is meant to be! ;)
